I'm happy with my purchase, but if you're going for big power, then the STI may save you money in the long run. A couple local guys have broken 2011 WRX trannies with <350WHP, so it's really hit or miss if they'll last. I do like the longer 5 speed ratios though. For out of the box speed vs. money the WRX has an advantage. The STI has many other improvements though (and they aren't cheap to add later!).

Ben have u had any issues with ure MAP sensor? If i accelerate in 5th i get a cel p0108 . I think I'm over boosting in that gear. I checked my mbc for any kinks but didnt see any. Any ideas?

After lazily following your thread forever, I'm actually posting and subbing
Any news/updates on that tow hook project? I need to break out the scissor jack and get up under the car. Either that or drive back to my parents' house on friday where all my stuff is |

What boost levels are you hitting and what are you tuned for? You should log and find out if it's overboost or an issue with the sensor. That's not the overboost code you normally see, so I'm guessing it's a bad sensor, or possibly a bad leak somewhere. I've never had that issue though. I'm running an aftermarket MAP, but I didn't have problems with the stock sensor (just didn't read high enough). Quote:

Yeah, it's hard on the motor and there is a very good chance it will overboost. The load it sees at low(ish) RPM's in 5th gear at WOT is very high.

Sounds good, can't wait to hear back.
Also, did you have any initial overboost problems with the TiC? I'm Cobb Stage 1 which is 16.5 peak, and I've been hitting 17 fairly regularly. Not a huge deal, but since its doing it consistently I took notice |

Nope, just bone stock with the Cobb tune. Good to know though, I figured it was probably normal with the bigger pipe

Yeah, he's referring to the overboost CEL. I believe it is P0244. Same symptoms as what you're seeing. The CEL you have is not one I've seen. I think it may be related to the sensor, as opposed to simply overboost. But yeah, I wouldn't go WOT in 5th. |

Oh, didn't see you're at 23psi. That's basically the limit of the stock MAP sensor. I'm guessing is spikes a little higher than that in 5th gear and throws that code. I assume my tuner turned that off when I was still on the stock MAP sensor. Now I'm on the Omni Power 4 Bar.

Changed my transmission fluid tonight. Neo Synthetic 75W90HD, per PAR's recommendation.

Sorry, no beer snob here.
BTW, I washed my car again last night. It was really dirty from sitting out in the rain earlier this week. It turned out looking great after just a quick wash and dry. Drying it was very hard in the dark, haha. |

Yeah, I would usually just go through the drive through car wash any time after it rains, but Derek said that would blast off my wax much more quickly. I drove it dirty for a day and then decided I had to wash it. Looks very nice again. I'll probably get more wax on it before winter hits.
