Thanks for the suggestions on selling my old Honda everyone. Sold it in under 24 hours on Craig's List at a fair price. If anyone else is selling their old car privately before picking up their Impreza and wants/needs a CarFax to give to your buyer, PM me. I bought a pack of 5 CarFaxes and only needed the 1. Expires in February, and I really don't have a need for the rest.

Picked up the car three hours ago. Paid $1,000 under invoice plus $200 doc fee, (plus 6% MD sales tax and $267 for tags, title and registration) on a pre-order made 10/26. Initial the best price I got from emailing dealers was $500 under plus $200. There's approximately $650 in holdback, so I thought that was fair. I then emailed those that responded with a price to give everyone one last chance to beat it. One was able to match it, but then the dealer that I ultimately ordered the car from responded with $1,000 under plus $200. I was skeptical. I asked why anyone would sell a car at a loss. Their response was that they wanted to gain me as a customer. Ok, whatever. I was still skeptical but went ahead and placed the order. BTW, I didn't have a trade-in. The dealer didn't know about the $500 Subaru gift and had no clue when I could expect the car. When it's time to close the deal today, they allow me to charge $3,000 on my Chase Subaru Rewards credit card and got me the 1.9% for 36 months Subaru financing for the rest. What's amazing was that the finance guy did not mention any extended warranties or aftermarket stuff that dealers always want to sell. Maybe they already realized I'm a penny-pincher. I doubt I can get a similar deal right now on an in-stock car.

I would like to know how to safely exchange money and merchandise on a private sale.

If you don't get the TPMS with your winter wheelset, the TPMS just stays constantly lit. I am not aware of any relationship between TPMS and an affect on the stability/traction control system. Just remember to mark your regular set of wheels with their position initially. I never realized that there was an order until after I started swapping and rotating. In case you aren't aware, TPMS warns you with blinks about which tire is under-inflated, starting with 1 for the tire closest to the driver and then working your way clockwise until you get to 4 blinks with the tire behind the driver. If the Avid tires are unidirectional then you will rotate front to rear so if you lose track of the original tire position, at least you know 1 & 4 blinks would be one of the tires on the driver's (left) side and 2 & 3 blinks would be one of the right side tires. If the tires are non-directional, then you'll need to more carefully mark them. Perhaps mark them with 1 (FL); 2 (FR); 3 (RR); and 4 (RL) before you store the originals away for the season.

By the way, for those lucky ones who already got their Impreza, are the Avid S3x tires directional?

The 17" S34D is not directional. I don't know about the 16" S30B, but I doubt it is.

So, went to the dealer today. I'am now both happy and pissed at the same time. They finally got their dealer stock in yesterday and had a chance to look the car over for the first time! Very impressed. Then they told me that their other pre-order (which was placed on Sept. 15th. 6 days before mine) just released with a eta of Dec. 30th but mine is still a VON. So much for seeing it before the new year.

The model I looked over had Nav. So for those that have the standard radio. Does it have the same "USB controls your MP3/Iphone" functionality as the nav head unit?

It's the same hook up for controlling your device via USB that Subaru has had for a while now. It's just a lot easier to navigate with the Nav unit (read as: cleaner).

Awesome info. Thanks. Honestly, even if I didn't keep track of which tire was which when storing for winter and then putting back on in the spring, I would still be satisfied if it told me if ANY tire was low. If I saw the sensor go off, I could take a look at all four and use a tire gauge to ID if necessary.

I just realized that I can't get a black 2012 Limited with black leather interior... What the heck?!

It looks like if I do get this car it'll be DGM again for the 3rd Subie in a row.

OR I could get a different color exterior and paint match the side mirrors' lower half that appears to be straight black plastic and also the fog light surroundings.

I guess it doesn't really matter if I plan on getting the Canadian side mirrors anyways and paint-matching those. I just think I'm done with DGM, even though everyone I know likes the color and I kind of enjoy it, too.

Decisions, decisions...

subiTWO, which model trim are you mounting those wheels on?

imprzya, I'm liking that red, but the Deep Cherry is also kinda hot. That wing is what's sold me on the hatch. Looks so much better than the sedan.

I agree with the statement about the Deep Cherry....but alas it only comes in Ivory interior.

The thing that has ALWAYS killed me is that I can not get black interior with the Satin White Pearl. That color is drop dead gorgeous on every Subaru I have seen.

WTF Subaru?

Agreed 100% I was just accessorizing SWP and was disappointed that it, too, is only available with Ivory interior. OVERKILL!

Speaking of accessories, what do you guys think? STI front lip spoiler or Impreza under spoiler?

For people that already took delivery, how is your alignment? Feels like I need to keep the wheel turned left a couple degrees more than I would expect to keep it going straight. There are some definite road crowns in my area, so I am experienced with holding the wheel a tiny bit to the left. This is a bit more than that.

stopped into the dealer today to ask about the changing the remote start feature that shuts off the engine as i'm opening the door to get in and drive. service guy didn't know said i should call on monday to talk to a certain person.

they qouted me about 900 for steelies and blizzaks w/o the tps. the tire pressure sensors are 75 per tire. aftermarket ones they said which work fine are about 40. they didn't know of a way to disable the tps light if i don't put the sensor on. they said - plenty of people just drive around with the light on during the winter with their snow tires. stopped into a couple other tire shops and received very simliar qoutes for steelies and blizzaks.

in the manual it tells how to silence the car beeping on lock and unlock. so i did that today. but asked them if i could just have it beep when i lock but not beep when i unlock. when unlocking all doors it beeps 3-4 times. bothers me. so now it's all silent.

asked about the radio lockout while in motion. they didn't know.

asked about disabling the seat belt indicator. they said google it. you can find out how. i wear my seatbelt, but sometimes i'm in motion before my passenger gets strapped in. ;-) i just don't like the beeeping as you can tell.

almost to 150 miles already - whoa. drove about 70 miles today up and down the canyon , highway and around town. i really like how the car drives, handles, brakes, everything. it's a nice ride.

Man, I'm loving that STI lip spoiler! First time I'm seeing it but I love the JDMish look of it on the white. I'm getting a DGM Premium hatch so I'm not so sure how it will look, probably a bit more discreet though. Do you know where I can find out more about that lip?

Can anyone post a picture of the rear seats folded down in a 5-door? I'm curious as to how flat it is... potential for sleeping back there? Thanks.
