Default Rossi to drive Peugeot in Rally GB

Valention Rossi, MotoGP champion and rally crazed Italian, is slotted to get a Peugeot 206 to play with in Rally GB. SpeedTV has the story here.
I've read comments by Nigel Roebuck of all people that he too has heard Rossi is very eager to get into rallying. I've seen him race bikes since his first days on the 250's and I am willing to bet that, should he go full time, he will be a succsesful rally driver. Wouldn't expect miracles in his first time out, but you never know what the future holds. Should be interesting.

p.s. Looks like Mark Blundell will be making his rally debut at the GB as well. Speed has that story here. Guess Rally GB will be the place to be this year.

Yeah yeah I know, Welcome to Last Week and all that jazz. Crikey. At least I'm not alone today. Why don't people actually put the subject of their post in the subject line?? Could have saved me the trouble of typing all this and looking like a huge pig anus. I hate it when that happens.

I am looking forward to following the talented Rossi in WRC competition. He has won the world championship in MOTO GP at each level he has competed. First year in the class he learns the courses and the bike, the next year he wins the championship going away! He has done that in 125's, 250's and now 500's. He has also made the transition from the two strokes to winnning on the new big 4 strokes. An amazing accomplishment for any period of racing history. He is also still a very young man and will of course begin to look for new challenges. I recall many of the top champions in motorcycle racing moving on to car racing and doing very well. Jeff Ward from motocross to Indy Car racing, Kevin Schwantz from GP's to Stock Car racing, Rick Johnson from motocross to off-road truck racing and the legendary Mike Hailwood from motorcycle road racing to F-1. I know of no champion motorcycle racer who has made the move to WRC. It should prove to be very interesting to see how this top level talent handles the toughest racing in the world. I know it will take time for him to learn the ropes but once he does.......................just watch.
