Default 2014 STI or 2015 STI?

I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I thought I'd go ahead and make the most and just see what others think. I'm not looking for an argument. Just looking to get some advice on if I should go with the 2014 or wait till 2015.

I guess I should start by saying I really do like the looks and drive to this current STI and I was thinking if I went with the 2014 I am getting a more refined car with less problems. Where if I waited for the 2015 I may be picking up a car with many problems and issues. But that is just a guess!

What do you guys think? Should I just go to the 2014 STI or wait for the 2015? And why?

Thanks for all the help!

Pretty basic question, guys; don't have to be pricks. Zaya, if you love the current STi, go for it. If curiosity is getting the best of you and you feel like you might regret getting the '14 when the '15 comes out, just wait.

I'd say get the 2014. You know exactly what you are getting, and if you want to do any mods, there is already tons of info and parts for this generation.

The 2015 may be a disappointment, or it may get better in 2016. We just don't know. Once it comes out, though, there is no going back (except used...).

OP, here is my $.02.

I went with the 2013 STI because I am in love with the exterior looks and performance. I briefly considered waiting, but the 2014 will be identical to the 2013 (so I have been told). The 2015 will be a new model year with many differences from the Impreza WRX/STI line (again, so I have been told). My feeling is that it's never a good idea to purchase the first year of a new model (manufacturer hasn't worked out all the bugs).

If you love this model, don't wait. That way would won't miss your chance to own something that you love. If you end up falling in love with the new model, simply trade up.

Err 2015 isn't even out. Just buy what you want lol. When the 2015s come out, I'm sure you'll find some left over 2014s if you don't like the 2015s

Well thank you for the people who have given some good advice, I guess it's true what my friend said about these forums. Really not a great community to ask questions on because it becomes into who can flame more =/.

But once again thank you very much Tristan-sa1, C4RBON_F1BER, and SWP n Gold.

I heard from an engineer at SOA that the 2017 one is going to be the one that gets a twin turbo flat six and the six speed sequential. It's also going to be $35k fully loaded. I would just wait for that one if I was you.

I have one of those. The carbon fibre structure makes the car amazingly light. The twin turbo 1.3 putting out 390hp/400#ft is amazing in a 1200 pound 2 door AWD coupe. They really need to figure out the squeeking between the carbon structure and the polyberrilium roller bearing suspension interface. I don't like the 12 speed sequential either. Too jolty compared to the 8 speed manual that I'll likely get next year.

And yet you asked anyway?

"Don't touch the dog, it bites." *OP does it anyway* "Why are my balls bleeding?"

It's your future, I see, a Tribeca and a Soccer tournament.

Ok, let's take this recommendation and dissect it.

Let's say OP wants a new STI. He waits until the next version of the STI comes out and says to himself, "holy hell! The new STI looks like dog feces and is a piece of junk!" Now he's procrastinated himself right out of a new STI because the new ones suck (in his opinion) and the 2013 model is no longer new and can only be had as a used and most likely abused car.

OP, if you want an STI, get one, now. Life is short.

Excellent advice and a point i made a few posts above.

Life is short. A very simple expression but also very powerful. This is something that was in the forefront of my mind when I ordered my STI. Live each day as it's your last and never ask yourself, "What if?"

Exactly why I risked buying a first year, new model car. I wanted an STI sedan, it had gone away for 3 years and came back in late 2010. I've had zero problems with my car so there are exceptions what people say.
