Default A new WRX or a second car?

I love my '02 WRX but the new 2011's are so tempting. Do I drop another $20,000 on top of my WRX to have a new one or do I put the money towards a second car?

My current car has suspension mods, is running stage 2 and has only 97,000 kms. I could use it in the winters without the fear of destroying a brand new car and switch over to something like a used S2000 for the summers.

So what would you rather have? A brand new 2011 WRX or an older WRX AND an S2000?

Brand new 2011 STi. You can't destroy a subaru in winter conditions. That's what it is made for.

Go for both if you can afford the insurance or have a place to store the one you're not using. I've gone that way with a Legacy and a Supra. Supra can be my full on fun car without worrying about keeping it tame so I don't kill myself in the winter. (not that it really matters with a WRX, but you also get two very different driving experiences)

An STi isn't in the running, it's just too expensive. I'd like to keep the total under $35K or so.

If you have extra budget to get a new car, go for it.
If not, keep what you got and save the extra dough for a weekend car

Two cars. RWD is more fun. Sorry to the AWD fan boys.

+1 keep the bug and go with a second car (ie S2000). I would say it's an easy choice if you don't have the space for another car then get the 2011.

But ya winter car + summer car = awesome.

I'm stoked with having two cars. Insurance is dirt cheap on the Miata and it's grat fun to drive and work on. As said before, if you have the parking space and don't mind the extra insurance DO IT!! Run your WRX into the ground and get a new car when it is done and gone.

My vote is definatly for 2+ cars! the WRX would be perfect for winter and then you can get a fun summer car.

Besides the S2000, what about an older BMW m-coupe?

Good call on the Bimmer. I used to have an E30 M3 and am still on the fence as to which is mroe fun, my Miata or the M.

, unfortunately for you it will require something in the muscle car variety to take away your girlie looks. I'm comfortable in the Miata...effeminate or not...

touché, and I'm always up for a real muscle car, not the new **** (thought I like the new ****, it's just not a muscle car.)

but I still stand by E30 M3 >>>>>> Miata (of any flavour) but yours is a nice miata and one I would rock if need be.

Agreed...I looked for an E30 but everything was stock and over $15K which was out of my budget as I needed to mod beyond that. I AM happy with my purchase and I have two added bonus features being that it is convertible (soft top ditched but I got a hardtop with it) and it is lighter than I could get an e30. But agreed it would be preferrable.

Were you talking about just an M3 coupe or the funky Z M Coupe? I would totally go for one of those weird little things if I could afford it and actually find one.

I had your same problem for some time. Finally bit the bullet and traded in my 04 wrx for a 2010 STi. Couldn't be happier! Wish I did it years before. Cost me $30k plus my car so you still have $5000 in your budget for springs, bars, intake, exhaust, AP, tune!

No question in my mind this is the way to go, obviously since I did it, but no regrets. I was always trying to make my wrx faster. STi is a totally different car, GET IT!
