Introduction
Hey everyone I am new here, not really new to NASIOC but new to tuning and EM. I recently went the way of open source tools and am loving it.
If anyone is in the Atlanta area and is considering doing this then I would be happy to help. Or if any of you experienced guys don't mind giving a newbie a few pointers let me know (I will supply the beer .) What I am currently using: Tactrix cable Enguinity (editing) openecu (flashing) Ecuexplorer (logging)

You use EcuExplorer to FLASH and LOG.
You use Enginuity to edit your maps. |

Pointers? -- Watch your EGTs, hot EGTs can waste exh valves and kill turbos. You can run an engine at WOT with lean AFR's with no issues at all if it's not knocking and EGT's are in check. If you run the same engine at 12:1 with retarded spark, you can end up with EGT's so high you'll actually melt the valves. A/F gauges are nice to get to the best power, but EGT is king for "safe" tuning. -- Nature likes a "smooth" map. Do some graphing once in a while and see if there are any obvious holes/outliers. Double check those points, but chances are, they don't want to be vastly different than their neighbours. -- Baby steps. Baby steps -- don't increase boost by 10psi and throw 20 deg of spark at it all at once.... -- Leave a "safe" fuel/spark cal in that is rich/cool and not too agressive on spark, then work out your boost targets and WG then work on fueling/spark -- the 10 deg flat ignition correction is a good idea to be able to see where your ECU is pulling spark. Look up Ride5000's spark thread(s) -- good info there. |

Ecuexplorer cannot flash the 2.5L turbo, DBW, 32bit cars. It can only flash the 2.0L turbo, DBC, 16bit cars.

the flashing module in ecuexplorer is a VERY old version of ecuflash -- I think it was back from when it may have just gone from a command line program to one with a GUI.
