Default auto to manual conversion

i have rescently purchased a used my01 2.5 rs
the only problem is that it is an automatic
but i got such a great deal on the car and the fact that i am planning on turboing the car anyway(along with upgrading to heavier gears) i couldnt pass up the deal

so hear are my questions
1: can i use my auto tranny housing for the conversion or not
2: what else is involved in the switch(dont worry about the ecu)

im also considering putting in sti version 5or6 ra gears in after reading dms-usa's posts what are all your opinions of this

thank you all very much for your time

i think its going to cost a lot more than 2000canadian. you need a new tranny, front diff, master clutch cylinder, and lots more things i don't even know of. not to mention you need alot of the little things like pedal assembley. the labour i would imagine would cost more than $2000 canadian unless you can do the install yourself. if it only cost $2000 please let me know where it can be done, i'm not liking my auto RS very much at the moment.

Wow third times the charm.... (You really didn't have to post this in the classifieds the Turbo powertrain and here also )
I posted in your turbo powertrain forum but I will reiterate again that you can find alot of the information you see by looking in my profile and pulling up the older topics I posted about (within the last month). I seem to be the only one publicly who has done the swap and depending on what you are looking to get out of your car it could or couldn't be worth it. Once you have read my older posts about it feel free to post a question.

From what has been discussed in previous threads, its really cost prohibitive - not worth it, just take off your mods, sell what you've got, and find a 5spd. Good luck!
