Air Fuel Gauge and 2.2K ohm CEL fix...
I am preparing to install an Air/Fuel gauge and I currently have the CEL fix inplace on the rear O2 sensor due to the installation of a catless DP.
I am curious as to how the fix will affect the reading of the a/f meter, if at all? Does anyone have an a/f meter and the 2.2k ohm CEL fix? Will the A/F meter be a complete waste of effort and money? Any help would be appreciated!

well...the 2.2 k ohm resistor mod refers to the uppipe egt resistor mod. that only affects the stock egt probe and the voltage it sends to the ecu. if ur installing a autometer a/f gauge then it works by tapping into the rear o2 sensor wire from ur ecu. that does not interfere with the egt.
HOWEVER...if u have the Mil Eliminator ( p0420 Cel fix) which changes the voltage sent to your ecu from the rear o2 sensor the a/f guage that uses the rear o2 sensor...will be affected. im not sure how...cuz i dont know what kinda voltage the resistor sends to the ecu...but it will affect someway. |

The resitor will make the gauge useless. The gauge will read ok and never change cuz thats what the resistor does. What you need to do is hook the gauge to the O2 sensor without the resistor and then hook the resitor so that it still fools the computer. I don't know how you would do that but thats what you have to do.

Thanks for the replies. I will more than likely just remove teh MIL eliminator resistor and use mny OBD-II scanner to just reset the light whenever the MIL comes on.

You can use both. Simply install a resistor inline with the rear O2 signal AFTER the tap for the Autometer gauge. In other words, relocate your MIL fix to the ECU harness and put your purple wire from the Autometer gauge closer to the O2 sensor (farther from the ECU than the resistor.

just a side note.
autometer a/f guages are worthless on wrx's. its just lights that go back and forth and look pretty. wrx's have a 5volt o2, which doesnt translate well into a 2volt a/f gauge. get a wideband o2 from greddy or defi. that works wayy better. |

You have to hook it up to the rear sensor (which is a standard O2 sensor like the Autometer gauge was designed to use). It is useless if you have cats.

Thanks for the replies...after reading them I went back to AutoMeter and found that they know if this issue already and fix it by adding an O2 sensor upstream from the cat. The part is #2244 and can be purchased through Summit Racing for $89.95.
So, I will go this route for now. At least my new exhaust will be tapped with another O2 bung so I can install a wideband O2 in the future if I need to. Thanks again! btw, the AutoMeter uses a 1 volt O2 sensor...figured I would pas that along as well. |

I would recommend you go to any Autozone and buy a standard Bosch sensor. It will be the same thing and it should cost a decent chunk less. You also need to get a stainless O2 bung (~$15) and have it welded in place.
BTW, the Autometer is designed to use standard O2 sensors (like any standard Bosch, the Summit sensor or the factory rear sensor) which aren't 2 volt, but 1 volt. |
