Default 12 2.0i RPM sticking

For the past week my RPM keeps getting stuck around 3k randomly after acceleration. The only way to get it back down is coast for a very long time or switch to L and back to D.

Wtf

I haven't yet. I need new tires soon and I'm getting an alignment for free at the dealer when I do so I could mention it then

Is this after brisk acceleration or moderate? What is "a long time"?

When I get jiggy with it the RPM hovers higher than normal for about 5 seconds.

It's completely random. But it only happens when I go to 3k or above. And long time = it's never gone down on its own.

I think it might be that it's learned my driving style and it assumes I'm going to accelerate again in a second.
