Sti heagaskets on N/A EJ25 torque specs?
I'm putting together a 2.5 phase II block with phase I heads, from the research I've done 04-05 Sti headgaskets can be used for higher compression. What torque specs should I use since the gaskets are thinner and I'm putting DOHC heads on a SOHC block?
Thanks |

I'd go with the specs from the block itself otherwise you might over tighten them

Torque sequence/spec needs to match the heads. I hope this helps. Also need the DOHC head bolts as they are longer.

Anyone else have an opinion? Am I matching block or head torque specs?

Heads. Same sequence for all DOHC cars. You may want to double check piston to head and piston to valve clearances with the thinner HGs though. I was under the impression you have to use the thicker phase 1 gaskets.

Gotcha, the sequence in which you tighten the head bolts is the same but what about the actual torque specs on each bolt? Does anyone have any opinion on the valve clearance? From what I've read there aren't issues with the thinner gaskets.

Can anyone confirm the torque specs I've found? (That's DOHC heads on a SOHC block with EJ257 Sti Gaskets) ... Torque to 22ftlbs Then to 51 Loosen 180* Loosen 180* Torque 1-2 to 25 3-6 to 11 Tighten 80-90* Tighten 80-90* |
