Suspension...
I am going to buy Cobb lowering springs and KYB AGX struts... if there are any obvious problems with either of those two products tell me.
NOW THE QUESTION... If a car is lowered, is it true that it can no longer be correctly aligned (thinking in comparison with correct standard factory alignment if not lowered) by a mechanic? If so, where? Sorry if the question is worded weird, just tired. Teddy

I've heard that before, but in the 4 lowered vehicles I have owned and had realigned, some more drastic than others, never was I told it couldn't be done. I spose its a possibility, but so long as the geometry remains...it should be no problem.

Obvious problem - AGXs are not available in a fitment for the 04+ Impreza. If you want to use them you will need spacers (available from Turn In Concepts - search 'TiC spacer') to match the rear struts to the 05 rear tophat/spring combination. Plenty of threads on this if you search the Suspension forum.
As to the alignment, depends what you mean by 'correctly' - lowering will make the camber go more negative than stock - the front can probably be brought back within stock specs using the stock adjuster HOWEVER the additional negative camber is almost always beneficial if you do anything other than straight line highway driving. The rear camber cannot be adjusted as-is and may need aftermarket camber bolts to regain stock settings - IF that's what you decide is 'correct'. If your priority is aesthetic, just get the toe zeroed and be happy. If your priority isn't aesthetic... then most folks would recommend springs with less of a drop anyway. |
