Default Warranty Questions and Opinions about a funny situation

My car has been in the shop since wednesday morning and it still isnt fixed. I was driving home and my car started spurtting. I made it back safely and subaru had my car towed to the dealership. The problem is the dealership is about 30 miles away and I have no way of getting there. I have the extended gold warranty which says I can rent a car and subaru will pay for it. I am not old enough to rent a car but I need a ride to the dealership whenever my car is fixed. Do you think it Subaru should pay for a taxi there since I am not renting a car and saving them money?

If the car is in your name, and the dealership can verify your car is in the shop, there's no reason they shouldn't be able to rent you a car. I did it when I was 20 a few years back. Many times. More times than SOA would like to believe I had to, due to their bearing defects.

I also was given a rental car when I was 21 because the dealership didn't bother to work on my car when they said they would. So I got stuck in an auto Aspire.

Be a pain in the butt about it, they'll get you in a car. Don't settle for an Aspire. I was 21 so I first stopped at the liquor store on my way home to drink away my sorrows (at being seen in an Aspire).

Call the dealership and tell them that since you weren't given a rental car you'd like them to pick up the taxi tab.

As long as you are 18 years of age and renting the car as a replacement for your car, you are allowed to rent a car from Enterprise. Dont know if you are 18, but check that out.

Thanks guys, i am 19 btw. Id rather have a taxi than renting a car just because it would easier for me because i dont have to worry about dropping it off and all that jive. I wrote subaru an email and I tried to call them but those folks at subaru seem to only work 4 days a week. Should this be a Subaru problem or should the dealership have to deal with this? thanks for all the other posts

Contact the dealer about the rental car. They generally have a company that they do business with, so you can either leave the rental at the dealership or the rental firm will drive you to the dealership. Plus if SOA is going to pay for it... you don't want to give them the impression that YOU are paying for it.

What year and model car do you own? Sounds like you had an O2 sensor go bad!

The dealer should supply you with a loaner car if they keep it longer than a couple of days. Call SOA if you go without your car for more than a week and get some kind of compensation. Might get a check or a free accessory

i have a MY00 2.5 RS and the O2 sensor did go bad and apparently it went so bad that it messed up my exhaust system so they had to replace everything from the catalytic converter back. They got it fixed today and they are letting me rent a car tomorrow. Thanks for all the input guys.
