Default New owner of an '09 wrx hatch!

Hello all! My name is TJ, This is my 4th wrx. I've been on the forums for awhile as I've owned an '03 wagon, an '05 wagon, and an '04 sedan. I must say I love this car already! It is an '09 hatch in DGM! I have been searching for a hatch for awhile now, and only seemed to stumble across '08's. Needless to say I never thought I would find one but I did. It has 46,5xx miles on it. Completely stock minus some window tint, a shift knob, and a cheap POS cd player. I will post pics up tomorrow as it is already dark here. I also would like to know, for those of you that may know, does Cobb still offer a credit when trading in an old AP for a new one?

Just installed a new head unit today. The car came with some Pos jvc, i would've rather had the stock unit. But I put in an alpine Cda 9855. I used to install stereos at circuit city, and the rats nest of wiring behind my stereo was ridiculous. Probably the worst i have ever seen. The new unit is really nice, and sounds way better than the jvc. I'm having problems adjusting the eq though. Anyone have any experience with this unit?

I've done some searching but couldn't find a solid answer, do I need a tune to run a catback? Some say yes, and some say no because it isn't effecting air/fuel into the motor. Just thought I would get an answer before I make the purchase, id rather have the AP first.

You would be best off doing intake and exhaust at the same time with the access port. Then you would notice an improvement and it would still run perfect

There would be no harm if I got an accessport first right? Just flash a stage 1 OTS map until I aquire the parts for stage 2? Would that be safe?

you can flash a stage 1 OTS tune with a stock air box and stock exhaust if you'd like, yes.

you can also run a simple cat back on the stock tune without any concern. Running an aftermarket air intake or downpipe will require a tune.

if you plan on buying a downpipe later on you can definitely run the stage 1 tune until then, once you get the new parts simply flash a new map that is compliant with those parts!

nice car, I'm nearby in Algonquin!

A little update, just put on an 08+ Sti magnaflow catback. It is a quad-tip kit, so I had to cut my rear diffuser. The cut is a little off, I'll be going back and cleaning it up a little bit when it warms up. I must say, I like the quad-tip look way better than the stock single exit. Not to mention the car sounds so much better now!!

AP stage 1 to come soon!

Thanks! i'm loving it so far. Its my 3rd wrx wagon, 4th wrx. (had an '03 and an '05 wagon, and an '04 sedan previously) I should be getting my accessport mid-week next week from Cobb, I'm expecting I'll love it even more after I flash it to Stage 1. Then after a few months ill get a downpipe and go stage 2.
