This is the biggest selling point of the SC kit in my opinion. It installs in like 3-4 hours and can be easily removed whenever you want. I have been seriously contemplating getting one after I see the results of VI running his. For the time being I'm saving up for my beloved RA 5-Speed swap.

Yep actually been ordered waiting for it to be sent to me. As for accessport..they won't be making anymore updated vehicles for N/A imprezas but all the ones that they have now will still be in stock mind you so 06-08 I think will be available. as for my supercharger right now I have the 440cc injectors, 255 fuel pump, waiting on race mid pipe no cat, hks hi power cat back exhaust. Just figuring out the best method to installing the maf, either before rhe compressor or after it. Will be going before the compressor like most factory set ups. As for tune just waiting on Sean at rallitek to send me a base tune that we can do some datalogging and tweak with. my goal is to run 15 psi with a built short block but 7 psi on the stock block should be no big deal. I'll keep you all posted as this will be the first 2.5i centrifugal supercharged Subaru...

He did specify "centrifugal"... Spudchucker used an M90. The other two? Not sure, but there are a few out there already.

Good thing VI is good at waiting for his product; he'll be good at waiting for his boost, too.

EDIT: Templar used a Rotrex in 2003, but what's seven years and counting in "first"?

Well, he did say it was going to be the first 2.5i, which may be the case...

Also the amount of accessports made for the 2.5i there won't be an issue with people finding them on ebay or rallitek you might even get a deal off one. Sean at rallitek did my whole tune for free still need one more map to finalize everything then its done..boost away right now the map on there is strictly for datalogging so its a bit rich but it still drives hard..

That looks like a pretty interesting setup. I'd really like to see some dyno and track numbers!

I have a buddy with a 2010 WRX sedan with just a cbe and an open source tune. That thing is seriously quick. It is a HUGE difference from the pervious years. My A4 came stock with 211 hp and over 220ft/lb tq.. with the stage 1 APR chip for 91 octane I have over 300 ft/ lbs of tq now and 229 HP.. all crank figures. It obviously pulls extremely hard with over 300 TQ but the 2010 WRX shocked me because the 2007 model was like a totally different car.

I'm sure that makes a hug difference over stock but it is the same old problem with boosting the 2.5i.. eventually that power increase will not be what it was at first and you will want more and that will cost you loads of money from where you are. Where even the old 2.0 WRX can make some impressive numbers on say 3500 bucks from stock form.

interesting none the less. I'm sure many are curious how reliable this is.. keep us posted.

As far as loads I'm buying a built open deck from tech works for about 3500 bucks when it's time of course. My car pulls as hard as my friends wrx with accessport stage 1 tune. C racing has intercooler kits for as low as 350 bucks. Piping and 2core intercooler. Once I go to 9-10 psi that will be it for now till blow either blows or I just get bored and decide to install block. Cooling factor of open deck is nice and no over heating issues. Maybe a 160 deg thermostat would also help things a bit more. No dyno on island or track nearest one is in puerto rico. Unless you guys like accessport dyno numbers which seem pretty close to the real deal. I'll take some 1/4 mile times at the track and see where she is in the 1/4.

yea dude, AP numbers are cool, whatever you got would great. Like I said this is pretty interesting. After owning 2 N/A rs' I can understand the boost desire. I'm still just trying to wrap my head around why it seems like a good idea to boost a N/A newer Subaru. The numbers just don't add up. But that is not knocking what you have....

2600 + 250 for an intercooler... 2850 + 3500 is over 6300 bucks + some other goodies.. You are talking close to $7K bucks to reliably run 9-10 PSI which isnt shabby for a SC but that is low boost overall. A stage 1 pre 2010 WRX is ok.. but put 6500 bucks into a WRX and it would be incomparable to running 10 PSI on your car.

I have a very small turbo on my car.. But for only 500 bucks on a bone stock car I got 100 ft per pound tq on a chip upgrade. That's why I mean costs loads to add power form your current spot.

What mods need to / should be done to a stock 2.5I. Before purchasing and installing this kit?

I wonder how reliable this would be? 7psi on stock internals?

Also, someone mentioned doing an ap tune before the sc? Would this be an effective power gain? It seems to me like a tune after the sc and other mods would be the wisest? Any thoughts?

Some engine work WILL be necessary to keep your engine from dying an early death.

Also, yes, get a tune. Otherwise your engine will run like crap

Just lettin you guys know that I'm currently working for a subaru performance site that is trying to become a vendor for Raptor Superchargers here in the states. I'll try to keep the N/A community informed. If you have any questions or concerns you can PM me and I'll try to answer your questions as I get the information.

EDIT: Forgot to add, we are planning on packaging the supercharger as staged packages, like for instance with an open source or other sort of aftermarket EM, fuel pump and possibly injectors.

where did the $2600 figure come from? The older kits on their website for the RS is $4100 for the non intercooled base kit.

EDIT: I saw the above link, the new kit is missing the EM and a few other components the other offers.

What I would like to know is what is the complete kit? They are not very descriptive.. What do they include just the SC parts and belts.. or injectors, fuel pumps etc?

as for the engine work, how legit and safe do you want the setup?

It's hard to say exactly how far you have to go for reliability. I don't think there are a lot of people running boost on a DD 2.5i. Getting a really objective response is going to be hard because there ins't much to base reliability on. If you look at what subaru does to reliably run boost, you would have to do some considerable work. The two main things I would consider import for reliability is lowering the compression ratio, good engine management and staying very conservative with boost. Seems like a lot of money and risk for limited potential without really shelling out thousands. There is no saying 7 PSI wont kill his engine in 8-12 months... roll the dice.

it really comes down to how youre going to control detonation. there are only a few ways to do it, all of which are not cheap. you can run high octane gas all the time, run low timing, run low boost, throw a bunch of mods at the motor to promote good breathing habits, etc.

i wouldnt go straight for building the block or lowering compression ratio. there are other ways to do it without spending that much money. id suspect if you did a cam swap that would help to bleed boost (you need overlap of when the valves were open), a nice sized header, intake, exhaust, and a GOOD TUNE you could pull off 10-12 pounds of boost on the car without a ton of difficulty. the deciding factor here is going to be you running your tune on the ragged edge or being really conservative with it. when you run it really close to points where you'd get detonation the second you get a nice cool day the car will make more boost and youll turn a piston or four into dust.

the same thing goes even with motors built with low compression specifically for boost. you cant run the motor on the ragged edge of blowing up unless youre constantly logging and tweaking your tune.
