2005 2.5RS or 2006 2.5i or 2006 2.5 wagon
hey everyone,
i am looking to get a car and i am pretty sure its going to be a impreza i have been researching a little bit on these 2 cars and was wondering what u guys think. Option 1: 2005 2.5 RS w/ Sport Package in canada the sport package consist of fog light covers, power moonroof, spoiler, 16" WRX wheels, aluminum sport pedals, 6 disc cd changer and premium audio system, and momo wheel or Option 2: 2006 2.5i with spoiler. or Option 3: 2006 2.5i wagon I wish the 2.5i had a moonroof and spoiler. P.S. i think both cars look good. the 2006 looks great when u see it in real life rather than in pictures. the color of the car would be black or gunmetal like grey if they had it but most likely black. thanks

if you're concerned with price, you could probably get a better price on the 05. IMO

i went to rally subaru today and they got in a black WRX 06. it looks awesome. the sideskirts are nice. same with the spoiler. if i do get one i am definitely getting them to install a spoiler. the color and teh front end also look good. they also had a grey/gun metal wagon. i really expected teh wagon to be a little larger. as of right now i am leaning towards the 06 2.5i in grey or maybe black. i am going to test drive it tomorrow.

Option 1 reduces performance because af all the added wieght.
My thoughts on the sports package were: Stereo upgrade sucks. Wheels are not upgraded from base RS, Steering wheel is great, spoiler does not function and adds weight. Overall I did'nt think it was worth the $. If you want the "driver's" version, remember weight is the biggest enemy; acceleration, cornering, gas milage, wear & tear. That's why I got the 05 RS, Crystal grey "gunmetal". If you want a poser and are happy to accept the weight penalties go for the "sport package"....it looks sweet. |

update:
i went to subaru yesterday and test drove an 06 2.5i wagon. it's was very good. very smooth power delivery. my only other previous experiance with sport compact is the 03 sentra SER. the impreza is a much better car in my opinnion. i also found out that the 05 and 06 price difference is only $800 unless i am financing it. if i got 05 i get 1.8% if u go 06 its like 3-5%. i also like th new styling. i think it looks alot better in real life then on pictures. i asked about the 05 with sport package and that **** is expensive so i have taken that car completely off the list. right now i am leaning heavily towards an 06 impreza sedan. i think the sedan has more cargo space than the wagon. right now i am going to wait to see a sedan. rally subaru only has a WRX and wagons. the sales rep told me subaru wants to clear out the 05 before they bring in the 06 sedan. i hope u the dealership can get WRX side skirts because they look awesome. the new spoiler are also very nice. just wondering has anyone ever bought a new car off the internet ? because the car is listed cheaper on the internet than it is at the dealership. |

Maybe consider the Saab 9-2X
Saturn Saab of Calgary NE had several. At least two in 5MT, silver. I did a test drive a month ago - best improvements over the WRX were the STI steering rack and leather interior. They were misfueling the tester with regular instead of premium, so not a fair test on power.
They just called last week, and left a message, to see if I am still interested. You never know, they might let it go for the very low 30g range. I'm holding out for the '06's, but if you're in the market now, it's not a bad option. |

In my opinion the "Sport" pack is way to exensive for what you get. I have an MY05 RS Sedan, MT, 22 Tkm, Crystal Grey (gunmetal) with ES 100s on stock wheels. I could sell it to you for around $22K.
I don't like the head rests in the '06...look like a cheap block of foam...nor am I a fan (yet) of the two tone interior. '06 looks great in siver and gunmetal. '05 better in all other colours. Any one have any wheels for winter ("16 <$200 / 4wheels)? |

You will love it. I have to tell you though.....the lack of Driver Controlled Center Differential really dulls the cornering feel. Plows hard in the corners when a FWD or 40/60, f/r power split will not. Especially in the winter.
