Default Block Heater Installation for a 2006 2.5i Imprezza

Hey guys,

So I am looking at getting a 2006 Imprezza 2.5i Sport Wagon. The dealer wants $212(CDN) for the block heater! I have looked online and it's a $25USD part! I assume it's a simple installation?

... Just get underneath the car, find the plug-in receptical on the side of the block and plug the cord in? Or is it more involved then that? Is there a Subbie Service Manual that would show the 'dealer' way for installation?

Or is it hard enough to warrant paying $150+ for installation!?!?

Thanks!

ive never even heard of something like this, im guessing its new on the 06? i mean if the dealer is chargin that much theres prob some sense of tough installation specially if the car is not all wired for it to just plug it in...but then again our cars come wired for alarms and its just plug in but prob the same high price you look at here

https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/p...products_id=65 I hope that link works. I'm assuming it probably comes with installation instructions, or you could find them somewhere online.

Pretty easy, involves draining the coolant and screwing this heater element into the block. If you can change your own oil you can do this.

yes there is a 110 wall outlet style plug that you mount behind the grill area and plug an extension cord into connecting it to the wall. The engine block heater has been an accessory for a loooooong time now (at least 10 years)
