I've got one, installed. I don't have any closeup shots though. Are you having a problem installing it or identifying if it's indeed that part?

i have a buddy who has a 2001 outback and my old 99 outback cusco bar doesnt fit on his car, so we're trying to see what they did to the new bar to make it fit cause cusco seems to be the only company who makes a bar for the 2000-2004's.

any bar from a wrx/gc will work for the front; I was sporting an ebay one that was listed for an RS for a few months. It's the rear you have to worry about.

The only thing you have to look for is that the ends of the bar attach via eye bolts so you can adjust the distance between the two strut towers.

nope, thats not the case. well at least with the GC bar that i have on my 92 legacy. we took it off and the firewall on the 2001 is too close. the corner of the strut bar hits it. i mean we could grind it down and make it fit, but he's wanting it to look good.

this is the part that sticks out too much..

i'm note sure what you mean? the bar itself doesnt hit anything, its just the strut tower bracket thats hitting.

Cusco items are usually powder blue, that doesn't look like a Cusco.??

At anyrate, just buy a low-level front strut bar for a GC. Done!

Wrong, the one from the 06+ wrx will not fit a BE. Tried it.

Having the eyebolt changes the shape of the bracket.

thats not the cusco one, thats my primitive racing GC strut bar that many folks said would fit, but it didnt. the cusco for the BG had a whole mess of other issues, like it was too tall and would hit the hood.

anyway.. i'm just looking for some pics of the installed cusco bar.

The reason it doesn't fit is because the BG/BD hoods sit lower on the car - there is less underhood clearance than on a GC/GF.

The bolt patterns are identical, but you do need the brackets to be lower profile. The cheap Ebay strut bars work fine.

This Cusco bar *might* fit. it's on my GF:

Not the higher brackets on the mounts - I'm doubtful that that would clear a BD/BG hood.

Default Cusco 2000-2004 front strut tower bar

I'm looking to add a front strut tower brace to my 2003 Legacy 2.5GT as well, but I can't find one available for sale online (except for Xcceleration.com, which is ridiculously expensive). Does anyone know where I can find one for a reasonable price?

Ebay, any of the low-level bracket models will fit. $20.

Yeah, the ebay ones will be fine. The only caveat I want to say is that if you're looking for any performance gain from this, you won't find any because our cars are just so much stiffer than older subaru's. Your money would be better spent on a front swaybar or something (which cost about the same as a new cusco front strut brace)

It's mainly underhood eyecandy, so as long as you understand that.

The car does seem stiffer stock than my old 98 GT, which had a Cusco strut brace installed. Maybe you're right, my money would be better spent elsewhere, perhaps on a stiffer rear swaybar (which I've heard does improve the handling significantly) or maybe some lowering springs. Aren't the stock front swaybars on the 03 GT's big enough? Any suggestions??

Swaybars, springs+struts are your best upgrades after tires.

I'd go with the swaybar first if you're on a budget. I do midpack in STS and that's my only real suspension mod after azenis .

The big advantage is that it's easier to install, so you can do it yourself...the thing with springs is that most of the money comes in the installation, and then you might as well do shocks, tophats, camber bolts, etc. etc. It can snowball pretty easily (from personal experience)

Stock on all BE legacy's is 19mm IIRC. I think the JDM B4's got 20mm, but don't quote me on that. You can get the Tribeca 25mm front swaybar for like $60, which apparently works with a lot of N/A cars; you'll need to get different bushings (or drill out your stock ones) and upgrade the endlinks too.

I re-found my camera, so if I remember, I'll take some pics of the CUSCO bar on my BE. It's different from the one that Huffer posted.
