Hey guys, I'm new to the mtn bike scene. My girl and I usually rent bikes and get on some trails. But what I'm looking to purchase my own bike now. I really like the Giant Yukon FX, looking to see if you guys recommend any other comparable bikes, and maybe some places to buy.
Thanks Peace |

Welcome! I have considered purchasing the yukon fx multiple times. It seems like a great bike to start with that you can upgrade as you progress/break ****.

I'm still riding my 15 year old Specialized Rockhopper....
that being said, if i had the money, i would probably upgrade to a Trek (Gary Fisher Design) Cobia 29er. I like them... |

Sup guys, noOb mtn biker question.
What's are some of the pro's and con's of a full suspension bike to a hardtail? Reason I ask is, like I stated above, I rode a Giant Yukon fx, it was grrreat! I mean it was so responsive the SRAM system was so sick. Anyways, I'm just new at this, looking to do it frequently before snow starts to hit. Would a hardtail be good enough for me? I looked at some Trek's, and Specialized bikes today. But I had to come here for some insight before making a decision. Thanks Peace |

Depends on what you're doing. I personally like the hardtail because I don't do any downhill really...

i have had both types....my current mountain bike is a full suspension and i leave the rear locked out about 99.999% of the time.
Like jbm said, if you arent downhilling just get a good hardtail. |

Anyone know the trails around Vietnam and want to show me around/ride there this weekend? I've just rewatched the 44 days video on pinkbike featuring new england trails and it got me way excited...

Hey all,
Havent been out much this year. Thinking about selling my Scott High Octane (2007) before the winter months. Nice bike that Ive had for 3 years, tons of quality parts on it. Looking to sell it if anyone is interested in picking up a bike for an affordable price! Only posted up here for now, figured Id rather see a fellow subie owner riding her at Highlands or another New England mountain! Shoot me a text for fastest response. 917 575 8782 |

I went with full suspension this time around and couldn't be happier. I think I have locked it out once since I've started riding it. Unless you have mega suspension I don't see the point of locking it out, it's made for all around riding. I occasionally have a little trouble climbing but I seem to have now gotten more used to it and do much better than when I first got the bike. I think if you get a quality full suspension bike, IE Trek, Specialized that it will not be an issue.

My buddy and I are driving to Highland tomorrow from New Jersey. Anyone going to be at Highland this weekend? I have a blue wrx with a bunch of lights on the front. If you see me come say hi and maybe we can ride together.
