you have to go to a ffl dealer to do the paperwork for transfer...between 20 to 40$ to get that done. gunbroker.com to buy and sell online.

FFL is only required if he's selling to someone out of state, and only for the person receiving it. For in-state there's no required paperwork, but just to cya most sellers will write down the buyers name after seeing their drivelers license and ccw.

The firearm serial no is registered so if there is no paperwork needed how does it get transferred? Ive always had the gun shops sell them for me so I dont have to do anything.

hilarous. I've got an AR-15, XD9 subcompact for carry, and a ruger 10/22. And one more, a CZ SP-01 Tactical (my range baby, super accurate).

My AR-15 is half CMMG (lower) and Spikes Tactical (upper) mid length 16".

There is no firearm registration in Oregon. Serial numbers are reported at time of sale at an FFL dealer to the OSP. OSP cross references the info with NICS in Virginia(FBI). The gun is not registered at all.

There is no firearms registration in Washington. But like I said, keep track of who you sold your firearm to just to cover your a**. You never know where that gun will end up. It's a perfectly legitimate excuse to just say you sold it to someone, but I'd like to be a little more helpful to the leo's in that sort of situation.

Yeah I just read up on all this last night on the wa state site. Kind of scary that you can do that here but they do have "transfer" forms basically just makes it easy to keep as a receipt/record with the persons info. Funny how it says you dont have to do a background check to sell it (private sale) but you cannot sell it to someone who is prohibited to having a firearm.

I've sold 2 guns thru this forum, both good experiences and no hassles.
Be aware that to sell a firearm across state lines, a FFL is needed.

I need to get out there before it gets too cold.

Finished another AR awhile back and I still haven't taken it out yet.

And I'm about to start on 2 new builds...
