Default Custom Pitch Stop Mount

Well i felt ambitious again this weekend so I went out, bought some aluminum, and fabbed up myself a pitchstop mount for $18 in materials.

All i used was:
-drill press
-belt sander
-drill with with tapered/round grinding bits
-circular saw,
-horizontal band saw
-Tig

It was a fun project and turned out good i think. Now its off to powdercoat today.

Thanks, I haven't driven with it in yet. I just didn't want to have to remove everything again to do powder coat. I would imagine the NVH will increase a little over the wimpy group N unit I have now. But I don't mind NVH at all. I was going to make bushing but I decided against it for simplicity.

lol, you will have LOTS, and i mean LOTS of NVH. it will most likly drive you insane. the groupN mounds i had increased NVH a bit, but not bad at all as the end result was awesome. but this thing. I ran a prototype of kartboys with hard race bushings and the amount of noise was crazy. if felt like the firewall was a huge speaker for the engine.

props for the DIY though.

I don't mind NVH either.I think your going to like the feel it gives when your accelerating hard through the gears.I went with a Perrin pitch stop and works great.I really couldn't believe how crappy the bushings are in a OEM unit. Also, nice welding!Good Luck.

No flex at all? One of those two mounting brackets WILL break.

You MIGHT get away with not ripping the firewall apart if you run solid motor and transmission mounts. But if those have any flex, you WILL break things.

I took into account that it will cause extra stress on the brackets and will repair them if its ever an issue. But I googled a solid pitchstop mount and found others who had run them for years without issue and enjoyed them.

I also have cusco engine and tranny mounts.

This. I bought a Beatrush pitchstop and took it off after one day convinced my motor was letting go due to all the extra noises I was hearing. It was effing loud.

yea, when i started mine up with hard bushings, it was comical loud. i installed it right before going to lunch with some friends so we all piled into the car and when i started it, they all looked at me like my engine was about to come though the firewall and kill us all

might need to pair it with solid motor mounts...... thats my thought to help with breaking. Not sure though.

Well i got it all powder coated now and just installed it today. It doesn't sound nearly like what everyone had led me to believe. Start up is the only time i really notice a large difference in noise. But other than that, it just translates a bit more NVH but nothing crazy. However, this mount coupled with my cusco engine/tranny mounts has made a drastic improvement to the feel of the car. Everything is nice and tight and makes shifting feel a lot sportier. I will keep an eye on the mounting points for indications of stress, but im sure it will be just fine.

I drove with something similar for about a week before I couldn't stand it anymore. Especially if you already have trans/engine mounts, all the pitch stop mount is going to do is turn your firewall into a giant speaker.

i made a 'solid' pitch stop....had it on the car long enough to know that it hadda come out.....before i was gonna drive the car again

the stock one sucks....a solid one sucks....im thinking of doing one a lil different

This very well might happen after a couple weeks, but I honestly don't mind it at all at the moment.

Nice work man! And if you can't stand the NVH all it cost ya was $18, I'm sure you can make it all back and then some if you throw it up on the classifieds section LOL.

Have considered doing similar. Was thinking about buying a bar of ploy for endlinks which would come in handy here as well.

Made a set of drex replica bumpstop extenders the other night on a mill since all the lathes were set up.

good work, though i think it would be better to push the alternator back another 1/2" and run a separate belt, and run the PS on a separate belt as well.

that way you have much better contact area on drive (crank) pulley.

maybe, but then he would have to run a new custom lower pulley that can accept two belts. what he has is fine as he has over 50% on the PS pulley and almost 50% on the alt.
