Default Best place to buy running wrecked cars?

In the next year or so, I'm looking to buy a wrecked 90-93 miata with a running motor for a project I'm working on. I'm looking to spend about 500 bucks. So far I think craigslist is my best bet. Anyone know where to find wrecked running cars or ever gone to one of those auto auctions?

Thanks.

Craigslist for sure. There are also a bunch of auto auctions/shady dealerships in Manassas.

For busted Miatas, NASIOC isn't a bad place

Call around to local towing impound yards. There's always a chance and they'll probably call you if they ever get one.

Just look for miatas with snapped timing belts... You can get them with in-tact chassis for that price...
