Default Asking the RMIC - my 09 WRX vs 10 STi

I got my 09 Hatch very recently but want some more oomph and handling....

Plans are/were....
RCE-Bilstein suspension, F/R sways with KB endlinks, Cobb Short Shifter and KB bushings, TBE, AP - probably pushing $4K in mods

I could get a 2010 STi Hatch for 31.5K out the door (maybe less with military discount). 15,900 mi (vs 32,000 for the 09)

All said and done about a 7K difference, putting 3K down and financing 4K difference and will have equity in it. Will do a STAGE II but not for a while.....

http://www.markmillersubaru.com/used...e9fd268cca.htm

What do you guys think? Mod the 09 or buy the 10?

Don't you go and buy it either....

If you can afford the STi, get the STi. If it'll stretch your wallet too far, stick to the WRX.

Exactly. Save some money, and get the 06. The only reason I can think to go with the newer car is for the hatch and warranty, but the 06 is still a great STI and will save you some $.

I never looked at an 06 - interesting.... The 10 won't stretch it too far but it is obviously a lot more money. I DO need the hatch though....

If you need the hatch get the 10' Sti, if your planning to mod and what not and can afford it get the Sti. If you don't you'll always wonder what if... Plus its blue, I'd trade my SSM for Blue anyday!

Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like the 08-10 STI motors were weaker than previous years. I hear of them blowin up more than any other year!

I know Jason has an affinity for the 06, but get an 07 if you want a hawkeye.... Top feed injectors and a longer ratio gearbox are worth it.

Power-wise, there isn't much difference between the WRX and STI after you tune an 09+ WRX (stage II 09 WRX is pretty much the same power as a Stage II 09 STI).

Now if you want a for sure bomb-proof trans, brembos, nicer interior, wide body, and a couple other minor things... Then go for the STI.

STi>WRX

Pretty much answers the question right there.

What do you think most people are going to tell you? To buy the STI. You need confirmation on that, really? Since you seem to, ill make a simple outline for you below

STI
Bigger Brakes
Better Suspension
Faster
Better Motor
6 Speed
Diffs all around
DCCD
Higher Insurance
More expensive
Ken Block drove one.

WRX
5 speed that is easily blown. Unless you drive like an ass hat, it will last you.
Slower but not slow
Your model year is the ugly duckling. No wide fenders, just bleh looking
Cheaper insurance
Cheaper vehicle.

There, now you can make an adult decision based on your needs. Thank me later.
