When in Germany in '95 the new Opel Vectra 1.6L 5spd manual I was driving was often at its indicated 115mph Vmax for sustained periods of time on the Autobahns without managing to burn massive amounts of oil. Luckily for Subaru they don't sell the "fragile" Impreza in Germany...Oh wait they do.... http://www.subaru.de/allrad-fahrzeuge/impreza.html |

Thanks John. couldnt agree more.
My 96 jetta would do 120, never burned any oil and a local kid is still driving it, my 91 Integra would also go 110+ and never burned oil. My 2002 Kawasaki ZRX1200 is MODDED very well and will bury the 170mph speedometer with ease. It has seen egregious/illegal speeds its whole life, and with around 80k on it, it still doesn't burn any noticeable amount of oil. |

While satisfied so far with my wifes '12 Impreza I'm alarmed when seeing others mucked around like you have been, the quicker Subaru Inc deal professionally with your oil consumption issue without unhelpful remarks from members of the peanut gallery the more comfortable normal people will feel about the long term reliability of the product and security they are backed up by a good company.
Yep my 14 yro Honda VFR800 with 45K Miles has seen its indicated 152mph Vmax many times on track days yet manages to never use oil between its 3750 mile services. |

Mind I have some sympathy after having my own battles Ford a few years ago where the car would randomly go in and out of limp mode with the dealer just re-flashing the ECU where it behaved itself again for a while, then it cut out stranding me dangerously in the middle of a Hwy late at night once out of warranty requiring a tow back to the dealers. They wanted to replace the ECU at my expense. Frustrated it took only 15 minutes of my searching on a UK Ford Forum it find it was a common manufacturing fault with that years speedo sensor. After it was replaced at my expense, 4 years on and no further problems but remember nearly losing my lolly at the Servicing Ford dealer at the time because of that and them failing to refill my Gearbox oil after an early clutch change, haven't been back there since and don't think I'd buy another new Ford. |

Sometimes it's questionable about whether they deserve that respect. You might get "banned" if they try to feed you BS and you know better.

Well biting the hand that feeds you won't do you any good. Its like arguing with a cop that pulled you over, yeah you can do it, but you'll most likely get boned as a result.

I was asked not to go to BILL BRYAN SUBARU. They have a HORRIBLE reputation and every time I ever went I had someone like my mom, girlfriend, or friend with me. Because they fed me BS and I very politely disagreed. The reason SOA cited for my not returning was "low customer satisfaction" scores on the email survey. I gave my honest opinion. Theres another nasioc thread started back before I was here called "Bill Bryan Subaru Are Criminals". And I've gotten pm's from central fl folks who say that Bill Bryan sucks.
Thats ehy I drive an hour and a half to a better dealer. |

I'm not going to apologize for refusing to accept "All cars burn oil these days, you just havent had a new car before..."
I responded with "I dont think its normal to have to put quarts in between changes". And "its a 2012 Subaru not a 75 Vega". I dont think these companies will care if our cars burn oil if we dont tell them that we find the loose qc standards unacceptable. You dont have to be rude, just not accepting their cya statements will rile them up well enough. trust me. |

79letour - Sign on to Mysubaru.com and see what the GTP (Guaranteed Trade in Program) value of your car is (you will need the VIN). It may be higher than you think. Mine is about $20k.
Dealer has to give that to you if you trade in regardless of the price of the new car (I normally pay Invoice or a couple of bucks less). Edit: As long as the car has not been in an accident or has body damage, etc.. See the GTP rules for the specifics. Don't believe that the trade has to be accomplished at the same place you originally purchased your car - Any Subaru Dealership. |

Automatic for everyone. It is not in effect for the first year following the original delivery. There are mileage restrictions and some others. Overall a very good thing if you have a reasonably low mileage and well maintained car. I used it on my 2008 OSB which I traded in for my 2012 Impreza Sport. Total cost of ownership for the 2008 OSB was about $4k for the 4 years/~38k miles that I had on it - a better deal then leasing, IMHO.

I've got a while until I get to the end of my consumption test. I will revisit this thread and share my results afterwards. I hope I am not told "all cars burn oil these days". |

No down payment - just ~$4k (interest included) for the Total Cost of Ownership.
