Exhaust Silencer removal
Hey guys,
I just got an Invidia G200 Exhaust, and it came with the silencer installed. Anyone ever deal with one of these? I removed this little bolt, and tried removing the silencer and it seemed pretty stuck. Any ideas on how to remove it? =p Thanks

Last time we removed a silencer from a invidia N1, we shoved the scissor jack handle inside and 2 guys pulled on it to get it out.

Get a threaded rod and some hardware and build a puller. MacGyver style.

Wow, that hard to remove huh? Okay, I guess I'll have to use a bit of force then!

You could try some taps with a hammer to loosen it up
then some good biting vice grips and man strength. |

Try removing it after the exhaust is hot. Wear gloves.

Have you tried to spray some THUNDERBOLT/WD-40, and apply some heat? Such as a little torch?

I get that heat expands, but how hot should I get it? I don't know if I feel comfortable with a torch @_@. Could a hair dryer or heat gun work? Logically, the force of pulling is much harder. The force generated from ramming on the other hand would be sufficient I think. I wish I could just ram something into the pipes from the other side, and knock it out. |

I've personally see many silencers which took an insane amount of force to come out (not recommended on the car as it would even go so far as to bend your hangers), and some that will never come out again and have been fused inside the exhaust. Do what LilDragon said, and soak it in some "liquid wrench" or something and yes, you will need to heat the outside like crazy so that it can hopefully spread apart from the inner silencer. Again, do it off the car if you're worried. |

get a long metal pipe into the hole, push the pipe left right up down, ull see the silencer start to wiggle its way out, easiest way ive used, dont bother with soaking it

Plug the "silencer hole" up with a pineapple - rev it and shoot it out?

Thanks so much for everyones input. Can't wait to get the exhaust on. But I got an appointment with aircare, since my car is 2006. Once I pass it, I'll get to the install =D. Is it actually true that Aircare is no more after 2014? Hoping. |

Thank you guys for all the help! The metal bar trick did the job. Took me 5 minutes to knock that silencer out. Man, was it a tight fit, I can't even re-install it even if i wanted to! o_o
