Thanks! You are definitely right with the squeaks. I have tracked down most of them and can't wait to hear the results with the Alcantara installed.

I have been working on the ATI pod and have it all stripped down ready to form with the heat gun. I knew it didn't have the best fitment but once you lay it on the dash for the first time it is VERY apparent! I have a good 1/4 gap in two places.

I couldn't have done any of this without your help! I have been commenting in this thread for over a year and am just now about to finish it up! Haha

I went ahead and attempted that piece last night and while the inside didn't turn out quite as nice as yours I still love it.

First I want to say congrats man! That is some ingenuity. I would never have had the idea to wrap the entire dash in Alcantara. Secondly your workmanship looks TOP NOTCH!

I just finished reading that you are doing this professionally now and are located in Maine? I might have to pay you a visit if the vinyl path dont go pan out as well! Keep it up man.

Sublime! Overland your car is amazing! Maybe this is how I get the interior away from the boring 2.5i tan. Awesome write up!

how hard is it to take off the airbag cover? is there an easy way to do it without having the airbag blow up in your face? I have an 09 wrx that i want to fix the badge on. the guy who owned it before me punched it and left a dent in it. (the horn used to go off when i turned)

Jason,

I wrapped my A-Pillars and SRS screw caps. Have you found a way to make your caps fit fully flush? Mine clip in properly, but stick out slightly due to the added thickness. I tried wrapping just the front of one cap, but the tan colored edges were visible at some angles.

I don't think there is any way around it. I trimmed, pushed and wiggled around with those for a while until I finally gave up. Once the pillars are installed it doesn't bug me, but I think I may just buy two more little buttons and leave them uncovered (you could get the black sti ones to match)

Ps - I finished the majority!!

Pss - I couldn't have done it without this thread!

I left mine unwrapped. They actually look good as is and provide a certain contrast against the alcantara.

Looks great man! Thanks for chiming in on that. I thought about getting black STi ones and just putting fabric on the very outside of it. We'll see if it grows on me as-is. I've really eaten up my yard of black.. and I don't think I'll have enough left to do the glove box and the area under the wheel. How much was left over from the piece that wrapped the upper/lower dash??

Honestly, I spread this project out for around 4 months and did it in stages so it is hard to say for sure.

I bought 3 yards of black and one yard of gray.

I probably have enough left to do the two small pieces on the door cards and mayyybeee enough for the B Pillars.

The first yard covered the Shift Surround, Hood Cluster, A Pillars and cup holder area. I think I had one piece left that I used for the actual glove box too.

The other two yards covered everything else. I also covered the center compartment base that contains the rear cup holders (I'm not sure if Jason did that or not?) The main piece I have left is maybe 36"x20" and tons of smaller pieces.

What I usually do is trim about a 1/32" - 1/16" off the edge of the cover before I wrap it. I also have been using the tip of a bone folder (or tip of a wooden skewer) to press the material around the pocket that it fits into.
After that, I should be able to snap back in like normal.
