Default 205/60R16 vs 215/55R16 for 2012 WRX

Hi, I just got a 2012 WRX and am looking at winter tires (I will be getting 16x6.5 steelies). I looked at many threads but non tailored specifically to those sizes. I've seen some people run 205/60 for winter tires and some 215/55. Is there any huge difference in performance? The 205/60's are about 75 dollars cheaper than the 215/55 setup. Any insight would be appreciated!

I thought 205/55 was the most popular for 16x6.5, very popular so probably cheaper!

I run 205/60 and have not seen a downside. Cheaper and better ground clearance.

Default Winter tires

Hi, i am new to the forum. I just bought a 2012 Impreza limited which came with 205/50 17 tires. I was wondering if my almost new winter tires from my previous car(civic) will fit. They are 205/55 16.

Thanks!

Im not genius to tires but i would have to say no because the rim on your car now is a 17" and your tires from your civic fit a 16" rim. They are two different sizes.

They are but since the 17" are low profile when i put the 16" beside they are very similar.

Yes, they will be similar outer diameter.

No, 16" tires will not fit onto 17" wheels.

205/55R16's for your steelies.

The narrower tire is preferred for the winter.
