That's odd, like mentioned, what psi are you showing?

So basically if I want to run Stg 2 on an STi ('04) safely, I'd have to either port the wastegate on the VF39 or go to EWG?

So.....can you just get an aftermarket wastegate to prevent boost creep?
Sorry if this has already been answered. |

What can this mean? The turbo boost gauge shows 1.3 bar but the acceleration is the same as at 0.5. bar.

Is boost creep still an issue on the 09+ WRX with the VF52 with a downpipe and a protune? Everyone around here has this type of simple stage 2 setup and I haven't heard the topic come up.

Will the be a problem in an 02 wrx with a vf39 and a tbe? I'm planing on swapping up my turbo but i was wondering if the problem is in the turbo itself.

Probably beating a dead horse, but here we go...
Does anyone have data to verify boost creep, like, say, an AccessPORT data log of wastegate duty cycle? I was watching mine on my stock '06 STI and it peaked at 65%. I have no way to relate that to the wastegate duty cycle required on a car with a TBE, but that seems like a pretty substantial margin in waste gate capacity. It's hard to imagine that the same wastegate would be totally ineffective with a TBE, but I also don't know how large an increase in flow a TBE provides. Also, does everyone know that the boost target for the AP stage 2 map is 19.5 PSI +/- 0.8 PSI = 18.7 PSI - 20.3 PSI? (http://www.accessecu.com/accessport/...093%20v104.pdf) This means that if you're running a stage 2 map, any boost pressure up to 20.3 PSI is normal, not "boost creep". (EDIT: On second thought, that last statement isn't exactly true. It's not that anything up to 20.3 PSI isn't boost creep, it's that anything up to 20.3 PSI isn't necessarily boost creep.) Not "hatin", "flame'n", or "trollin", just trying to get my facts straight. Seriously, if anyone has data logs that show boost creep in action, I'd love to see them. I have seen several logs where WGDC is maxed yet the boost continues to rise above target. It does happen. |

From OP:
Q) How do I know if I have boost creep? A) If you have a full TBE, then you probably have it. A boost gauge will tell you what pressure you are at as well. Fuel cut occurs when the ECU senses boost in excess of 17.5psi for 2-3s. Fuel cut in my experience is a very violent "stutter" from the engine that resembles extreme knock, followed by CEL. I think this is what happened to my car not too long ago, but it seems to run fine now. Will fuel cut damage the engine permanently if it only happened once? Is that possible? |

Fuel cut by itself is not likely to damage the engine. In fact, the purpose of fuel cut on overboost is to save the engine. However, the overboost itself can damage the engine faster than fuel cut can save it.

Thanks to the cobb ap I have found that I AM creeping.
I talked to the boys at cobb and they informed me that the 06 WRx's have an adjusteable wastegate swingarm thingy? So basically i am going to take out that little bullet looking thing from the hose and replace it with the one from an 05 AND I will adjust the wastegate to eliminate boost creep. Any tips?! |

WOW! Slow down, the arm would adjust on the swing arm that operates the actual internal waste gate...the "pill" is what you're talking about inside the vac line...be careful and research before changing out the "pill" (consult a tuner)
