Trespassers... What are they doing? What should I do?
Sorry for how long this got, summary first for teh lazies!
Summary: Douchebag teens have been mysteriously leaving their pickup truck on the side of the road in front of our property but we never actually see them coming or going. Today my wife finally spotted them pulling up and scared them off by snapping their pictArs and calling the cops, we haven't heard anything since. Cop friend of mine runs tags, tells me it's registered to the mom of some punk kids, told me who they were and where they live. I suspect drug activity. Map for reference: Details: My property is about an acre, and is wider than it is deep. It's basically 2 lots. My house is situated on the cleared half, the other half is wooded with a wide creek running through it. About a year and a half ago we started noticing a white pickup truck that would be parked in the location marked in the picture above. It would be on the side of the road, slightly pulled into the woods. It would be parked there in the early morning, gone in the afternoon. We called the sheriff to investimuhgate after seeing it there more than once. I also called a cop friend of mine and gave him the tag numbers. He told me who they were and where they live- they live in a town adjacent to mine, about 5 miles away. He said basically that they were white trash trouble makers. Lovely. Anyway, long story short, we never actually saw the guys parking the car there or leaving, but the cops said to put up no trespassing signs. We did, and we never saw the truck again. Problem solved, or so we thought- DUH DUH DUUUUH! Today I was out helping my sister with some errands and my wife had been out as well. She got home before I did, and as she entered our neighborhood she saw in front of her a white pickup. She thought to herself "hey, that looks like the truck that used to park in front of our woods". Sure enough, the truck pulls right up to our property and pulls over in the same old spot. The driver waves my wife around to pass, as he is partially obstructing the road- not realizing that she lives at the house just past the woods. She pulls in the driveway partially, rolls down her window and watches them. The passenger stays in the car, the driver gets out, goes over to a specific tree, picks up what looks to be a soda or beer can, checks it out. Then he crosses the street and goes over to another can and checks it out as well. At this point my wife is snapping pictures of the truck with her phone and calling the cops. The passenger sees her and tells the other guy to get in. They leave, drive around the neighborhood and come back. My wife stays in the car, suspecting that they might do just that. When they come back around they see that she is still in the car, so they leave again for good- then the cops show up. I get home just after the cops leave. We haven't heard anything since. I went over to the spot and could find nothing unusual. I guess they took the cans with them or threw them in the woods, because I couldn't find anything. And of course the cops won't do a damn thing unless the punks are caught red-handed with a severed head or a bucket full of cocaine. WWOTDo?

Get a few big ass dogs. Maybe a Rhodesian Ridgeback, a German Shepherd, and a Husky.

They are growing pot a couple properties over and just use your area to enter the area.

confiscate their beer cans full of drugs and money. Sounds like they leave money in one can and pick up the drugs in another.

Put a bunch of nails and broken glass and other tire puncturing things on your property.
Hey, it was their fault for driving on it! |

what's in the woods, have you walked around in there, seen if you find anything? Maybe they're stashing there, or like WRSport said, they're cutting through to get to the stash. What's on the other side of the woods?

Buy one of the $20 false camera units with the blinking light and mount it right in front of/on the tree with a cable going into the ground.
OR take a picture of the truck and a second of the plate, and maybe a 3rd of a shotgun....print them out and put them on a stake in the ground right under the tree. I think they might get the point. |

Oh, and a flat tire may slow them down enough for the cops to get them. |

well, nobody's growing anything out there right now...(little early in the season for that)
I tend to agree with the drop money, pick-up drugs scenario... Probably has to do with the house to the right of the drop-spot. |

Shoot them for trespassing. Get a tree stand and watch them or just a remote camera to watch the area and see what they do.

Beyond the woods are train tracks, then more woods and a neighborhood further down. All of which are easily accessed from many points east of my house- my woods are probably the most difficult way to cut across because they are so dense, wet, and full of thorns. |

Guns, lots of guns.
Definitely call the cops ASAP next time you see the truck there. Even if they aren't in it, the cops can get the plates and info and track them down. |

I bet they are dealers and actually use it as stash away from the mobile home 5 miles away. If thats a possiblity you may need to be cautious confronting them directly.....use other methods I think at this point.

The house to the south of hers and across that little field is up for rent. The house directly across the street from mine is vacant (old person died there) and the house diagonally across from mine is another old person & her middle aged son + his wife. The house beside mine directly to the west is vacant, it was being rented by a lady but she moved out about 4 months ago. My neighborhood is mostly old people. |

When I look at that overhead picture its clear they are up to no good. No houses have a line of sight it appears etc..
I think you need to setup a webcam and let OT have access to it so we can police it and solve the crime! |

I'd love to set up a webcam, but I don't know where to put it. There's not exactly any power sources in the woods, and I can't see the spot from my house very well at all. |

Battery and solar powered webcams do exist but you still need to run a long cat5 cable back to the house etc.. unless using a wireless model.

dogs, nails, fake cameras, pictures of guns, guns, guns, guns guns, guns, guns, guns, guns, i like all the ideas. Set up a militia of your friends in the area for a couple of hours, with some beer and nuts. when they come, take some pictures, and maybe shoot at them, or the tree 2 inches from their head..
