Winter Road Rally Season Begins February 19th
The Arctic Alaska Region of the Sports Car Club of America will be sanctioning the first event in the 2012 Winter Road Rally Series on Sunday, February 19th.
Kim Ciccone will be the Rallymaster for the FUBAR ReDuex Road Rally and had this to say to all competitors: I have written an outta sight adventure recapturing some of the ideas from my "February Usually Brings A Rally" Road Rally just one year ago. Come just to see what this rallymaster has in her bag of tricks. This is gonna be a rally BEYOND RECOGNITION... it's FUBAR ReDeux! The starting location for the FUBAR ReDuex Rally Road Rally will be Carr's Jewel Lake near the Starbuck's and Deli, with 1:00P Registration. For more information you can head to www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com and register today! Mark your calendars for Sunday, March 11th and Saturday, April 14th, the next two dates in the Winter Series too. Thank you for your support to the sport of Road Rally, the Arctic Alaska Region of the Sports Car Club of America, and RPM Alaska—the Series sponsor. We are looking forward to the upcoming summer season, and we'll kick it off with our annual Road Rally School on Thursday, May 31st and the first Road Rally of the Summer Season on Saturday, June 2nd! PS: For our fellow motorsport enthusiasts who enjoy autocrossing and may not have heard the news—the SCCA Solo Season has established the following dates for 2012: Sunday, May 6th, the weekend of July 7th and 8th will have Solo and Solo Drags and another date to be determined for later the Fall!

So is Road Rally pretty much like Bull Run?

nope.
its usually a series of check points you need to make. if you arrive to soon to them or to late, it goes against your score. its more about math then about driving skill. speed doesn't help you. from what I heard you have to complete "puzzle" so find out the next check point too. I'm sure its fun for some. I'm not one to talk though. never gone to one. getagrip could probably fill in more details. |

It is a Time, Speed, Distance Rally.
There is a little bit of a learning curve but, they can be a lot of fun since you'll likely see parts of town you never knew existed. They can be a PITA too if you get off track (as in getting lost) and have to play catch-up or back-track to where you should be. Speed is a factor in that you don't (shouldn't) ever exceed the posted speed limits on any road. In fact, the rally times of sections is designed to keep optimal speeds at 10% below posted speed limits as a general rule. You have to have a navigator and a driver. You can have others with you too as ride-alongs. Read this to learn more about TSD Rallies... http://www.tsdroadrally.com/novice_or_nervous.cfm |

Six Teams are ready for FUBAR ReDeux - are you?
No main road rules this one!
I was out on Kimi's FUBAR ReDeux earlier this week and her GTA (Games, Touring and Adventure) is just that! No prior rally experience is needed — just being able to read, follow, frogs, and more, ha! While this event is a bit more of a chances-win versus time-speed-distance, Getagrip and Jeffro – our local rally "we're gonna beat them" team – are registered. As Getagrip Engstrom said, "Kimi does a great GTA rally. It is always creative and fun!" - Come Join Us! Head over to www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com the official registration site or arrive Sun, 1P, Carr's Jewel Lake. Online registration is open till 8P Saturday — checkout the entry list, see who YOU know! |
