Wink changed dash color/how to change cruise control light?

So I changed the bulb condoms on for my dash, stereo and hvac controls. Now I want to change the cruise control/fog lamp ones too. Can anyone tell me how to get to the bulbs for those? Thanks.

Oh, and here are some pics so far. They are a lot brighter here since the iris of the camera is wide open. The LCDs in the gauge cluster and stereo are also more of a teal as I used blue condoms there.

It was pretty easy to replace the bulb condoms. You can get to the bulbs of the gauge cluster pretty easily from the back, and the hvac controls are also pretty simple. The stereo was pretty easy except for the LCD which was a bit of a pain. Overall, I would say 2 hours total or so. I took longer because I played with blue and red covers. The blue isn't as bright as the red, and not as blue. Do a search for dash lighting and you'll find some threads on how to do it. You can get the covers from partsexpress.com. Search for lamp covers.

You have to take the switches out from the dash. You might need to push them out from behind. Once you have them out there are little sockets that twist out of the switch, just put some condoms on the bulbs and re-install them. The bulbs are very small, smaller than the dash and HVAC bulbs. I don't know if you need smaller condoms or not.

Wow. That's nice, I heard that just changing the bulb condoms didn't provide enough brightness but I guess it does. What kind of guages are those? OEM?

You'll have to use both sizes, I think two packages of the .2 and one package of the .12 was adequate to do hvac, stereo, and instrument as well as boost guage. You'll want to put two on in most cases to give a deeper (less pink) color.

i did my fog and Cruise switches as well.. its a PITA... you have to take apart the switch because the bulb doesnt color the light, there is a film on the backside of the peice you see (the little window) what i did was take apart the switch, sand off the backside of this, and then reassemble the switch.. be careful with 2 things though.

1. taking apart the switch theres a tiny spring (or 2?) that like to pop when you open them up.

2. when sanding not to press too hard on the backside of the window, as the entire plastic peice will pop out, this happened to me, and i crazy glued it back in with no problems.. now that i think about it, that may be easier than sanding with a pencil eraser (i put the sandpaper around a pencil eraser to get down into the switchs..

I also managed to blow one of the bulbs in the cruise indicator and havent gotten around to fixing this...

the only light i couldnt figure out how to do was the lighted window switch on the drivers side.. its a tiny led.. i mean TINY, i didnt really feel like soldering on that board..

let me know if you have any Q's.. I still havent done my gauge cluster, thats next. btw yours looks great.

I did all of my lights in blue condoms (dash, clock, HVAC, gear select lights(4EAT), and fog/cruise). For the fog/cruise, just take a flat screwdriver with tape and pry them from the bottom. Once out there are 2 circles on the side. Use a screwdriver to turn these and pull the bulbs out (use .12" condoms). Careful when using the screwdriver, there are multiple slots, some have wiring that i cut with the screwdriver on accident. Also, these were stingy in coming out, they won't just fall. The condoms were strong enough to penetrate throught the green film and change the color. It is a teal color, as is the rest of my interior to match my head unit (Kenwood Excelon). Don't know if it will work with red. On the clock I used 2 layers of blue acetate (local art supply store) to get that teal. I used 2 condoms for every light. Hope this helps.

Thats cool. The member Griffy on this board has his whole interior in red also. Very nice... but rather dull lighting. Alittle too dim. Where you able to get around that?

Q. How does the radio settings show up during the daytime?

I find the standard green bloody hard to see on my MY01 Liberty (aka Legacy) here "downunder", I am supposed to be able to depress the Volume Knob for 2 seconds and the lighting will increase ala the Climate Control (that one works) but it only turns the radio off which it is supposed to do anyway.

Sweet! Looks like the gauges I have on my mp3. I used white faced Autometer gauges w/ red condoms to match the orange color...

I'd post pics, but I can't figure out how...
