The Subaru Urban Assault Race™ expands into a 3-city Texas adventure race series with the winning team taking home a new 2005 Subaru Legacy!
Austin, TX January 16th 2005 - Launching its 3rd year, the Subaru Urban Assault Race™ has grown into a series with events in San Antonio, Dallas, and Austin, TX. Race teams will compete to win the overall series prize of a 2-year lease on a new 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Wagon!
The Subaru Urban Assault Race™ is an urban multi-sport event to the public. The races combine cycling and 10 mystery events, which could include kayaking, rock climbing, mental challenges, even synchronized dancing. Teams of two race their bikes to checkpoints around the city, obeying traffic laws along the way. Once they complete all 10 checkpoints, in any order they choose, they race back to the start/finish area for the final crazy obstacle. The races will take place in May and June 2005 in San Antonio, Dallas, and Austin, TX.
Subaru is returning as the race series title-sponsor in 2005. “The Subaru Urban Assault Race™ is the perfect event for Subaru”, said Joe Nunnery, Central Marketing Manager, for Subaru of America. “The race is great fun for participants, spectators, and sponsors. It includes so many adventure sports which we support and have found to be a huge part of the Subaru driver’s lifestyle.” The lease on a Subaru is an unprecedented prize for an adventure race. “This is huge! I’ve been in the racing scene for over 10 years and have never seen a race where this type of prize was on the line.” said Josh Kravetz, owner of Adventure Fit – the producer of the events. The Co-Ed team with the best series results will take home the Subaru grand prize.
