Either he knows a guy that knows a guy that knows a guy, or he's just actually old enough (and somehow nice enough) to have enough friends to where law of averages would dictate that SOMEONE around him would purchase a BRZ and also care about him enough to allow him to drive it.
Would I trust someone so ancient behind the wheel of my new sports car? No, but that's probably just me. |

Going out on a limb here, but could this not just be a mule for the turbo FB power train in general? For the impreza turbo models and the grossly underpowered xv perhaps?

With my new car I might be nicer and let others drive it since it won't have a turbo or AWD. We shall see... |

Maybe Subaru's fooling all of us, and this is the turbo parallel hybrid in testing.

I've wondered since the BRZ was officailly announced as a RWD coupe if some WRX development, engine, suspension parts, chassis, interiors, body designs, ect. could have been going on in conjunction with the BRZ, but so much attention was given to the BRZ that no one noticed. Of course, I am old and my mind wanders/wonders all the time.
Think about it. Since Toyota apparently put up most the development money, why not use it to develop parts that could be used in other models? Subaru has already said that without the BRZ a new WRX/STI couldn't happen. Maybe Subaru meant they now had more of their own R&D money available for WRX/STI development.. This is what I believe. I can NOT imagine Subaru giving up WRX/STI for anything like a BRZ. |

I'm certainly not as crazy as I used to be when it comes to modding, but I just can't leave well enough alone, but age has taught me how much I really 'need' to have fun and enjoy the drive, and I don't waste my time with the other crap. I'm not quite sure why you put 'tuned' in quotes, I'd say the laptop tuning done today isn't quite the same as twiddling set screws on dual carbs so each bank of cylinders is running as close as possible to the same fuel mixture, that took talent, luck and a fair bit of hard lessons. tuning these days, well, it's more precise, and certainly the hard lessons are there to learn, but you don't have to be quite as lucky, or talented, just experienced and good with math. |
