Default No turbo for the BRZ?

I saw this on Speedhunters and I was disappointed for Subaru leaving the engine stock.

Looks like no turbo for this in the future.

I was wondering when somebody was going to post this. I saw this yesterday but couldn't remember the website.

The upgrades to the STI concept look like suspension, wheels, brakes, weight reduction, minor chassis stiffening and dress-up parts, but no power increase. It looks interesting but it's not enough to make me want it over a regular BRZ.

Just use the money you'll save by getting the base model and put a turbo on that one...

We'll be making a turbo kit for it as soon as we get our hands on it. Just not sure if its going to be on the FJ20 in it or on an EJ257 swap.

why wouldn't you just swap an already turbo engine from a wrx if you are going to swap an engine?

This car freaking needs a turbo but with that stupid compression ratio
I don't see it happening without blowing the engine after a few redliners.

Two reasons.

1. So we can make parts for the FJ20 to possibly sell. Dropping the compression should only be a matter of swapping in a set of forged pistons, no big deal. The direct injection scares me though.

2. To pass emissions in NY. If we were to do a ej257 swap we would need to run a stand a lone EMS which is great, but we could never plug the stock computer back in to get an inspection.

The EJ257 is an "already turbo engine."

Do you really think would you need to run a standalone on it? I wonder if the usual harness merge is a possibility. I suppose it depends on where the Subaru ends and the Toyota begins.
