BRZ/FRS open source project
Does anyone know if there is any development going on in the area?

Yes, they are working on defining the necessary tables. Be patient.

There is pry not as much drive since the gains from tuning a NA motor are not like the turbo cars. And there are just not nearly as many of them.
However with the interest in forced induction I am sure it will start moving forward |

The big hurdle here will be flash support. Unless Tactrix upgrades ECUFlash (closed source) to include the proper handshake and microkernel for the BRZ, or makes their software open source, you'll need to solder the ECU to flash. Given that this ecu is on a new hardware platform, SHboot flashing may not exactly be straightforward. Last edited by izergfx; 09-08-2012 at 06:02 PM. |

There's enough people doing assembly language stuff at RomRaider now that I wouldn't be too surprised to see open-source tools for reflashing before long. Maybe the BRZ will be the inspiration to make that happen... we'll see.

Yeah I hope this happens as Cobb isn't working on anything and ecutek seems crazy expensive if you want to tune without going FI.

ECUtek has the ability to read/write to the BRZ ECU. I've been told (but have not confirmed) that the existing tools that can read/write the diesel Subarus can read/write BRZ ecus.
