I have the seal attached with small black self tapping screws. The ones you can buy off ebay do have double sided tape. I tried using the 3M tape but it wouldn't stick.

I still remember when this was all the craze and there were sellers on eBay selling a garage door seal kit for like $50. I'm actually tempted to do this but I don't really like putting self tapping screws into my bumper.

The seal that you can get off ebay attaches with 3M double sided tape which should eliminate the need for any screws.

As far as the muffler delete goes, there is no effect on hp or mpg. It's strictly for the sound.
Was wondering if you could point me to the right direction as to where I can buy the flange? Subscribed to this thread

Where did you get the sharkfin antenna from? I would like to do this mod to my forester. Thanks!

I picked up the flange from Street Tuned Motorsports. Here is the link:
http://streettunedmotorsports.com/pa...ust_flange.htm

If I remember correctly, you will want the flange diameter to be 2.25". I picked up the stainless steel pipe from Silicone intakes. The pipe itself has an O.D. of 2.25" while the inner diameter is 2.125".

Here is the link for the SS pipe:
http://www.siliconeintakes.com/produ...32b571d4591c2c

I thought your idea of the STi axleback was really good. I am going to see if I can pick one up for cheap, modify the pipe where it meets up with the mid pipe and then modify the rear bumper to look like the 08-10 STi rear bumper.

Thanks for the info! That's exactly what I was going to do, except I didn't think of modifying the midpipe to muffler flange. You sir are pure genius Hmmm I might just go ahead and continue with my pursuit of mounting that axleback! I gave up at first when I found it didn't fit right away. Hope you don't mind me borrowing that idea

Except I wouldn't count on it holding up well to our Canadian winters, maybe I'll leave it for the time being. Oh and in response to my initial post of garage door seals on eBay, it's a complete ripoff and scam, when you can buy a whole roll for like $15, which is what I am going to do.

Did you swap our your brake lights and would you happen to know what type of blubs they are? I'm assuming they are T20 7440?

By all means go for it! I'm looking forward to seeing the end result. How are you going to address fitment of the muffler in regards to the rear bumper? Are you just going to do cut outs for the tips?

I agree. The ones on Ebay are a total ripoff.

As far as the brake lights go, yes I swapped those out. They are T20 7440/7443.

Does swapping the taillights change the way they look? Increased light output?

No change in the way they look. Light output is about the same. The on/off time is much quicker though which was my primary reason for changing them.

I'm assuming you went with the 68 SMD LED layout or did you go with something bigger and brighter?

I did go with 68 SMD. 96 or 120 might not be a bad idea either.

has anyone bought new bulbs for their reverse/backup light? i purchased some smd leds recently and its nice but its doesnt project the white light out, it just shines white when u look at it. I want it to sort of project a little more (stock ones projected more lights out to the gound) so that people walking can see my backing out if im in a parking lot etc.

please provide links or name of seller/vendor. thank you very much in advance!!

I swapped out my reverse lights for leds and like you said they don't project outward. I might give these ones a try:

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on these. Should have them by the end of the week. I'll post some comparison pics.

For your rear bumper/exhaust ideas, have you considered grafting on the diffuser section of the 2012 STi hatch rear bumper, the one that looks like this:

or this from the sedan:

You can get an entire bumper cover for just over $200. So, this plus a little flexible bumper repair epoxy and a lot of measuring, cutting and finagling, a little sanding and painting, and I think you can have something custom that will work perfect with the STi cat back (since that's the lower part of the bumper from the STi) and look pretty sweet. I figure if you are comfortable cutting into the front bumper, a few more on the back wouldn't be that big of a deal.

I have been highly considering this, but I want to measure the width of the diffuser section compared to the black part of the stock bumper to make sure it would work.

Also, out of curiosity, how much did the side vents cost you?

As a matter of fact I have. I never considered the bumper from the sedan though...I think I like it more then the hatch bumper. Ideas, ideas ideas.....Ebay has bumpers for cheap from wrecked STi's so as long as the lower portion is in good shape, that should be fine. As for the adhesive there is a product called Duramix for the polypropylene material the bumper is made out of.

I bought the side vents off of a member on IWSTI for $40 shipped. Brand new ones retail for $32 each.

$40 is good, the dealer sort of near me has some good prices, but it comes to just over $50 for both from them unpainted. The bumpers also come unpainted as well, to make it easier to attach to the existing bumper, and abour $220 shipped beats the ebay prices I could find.

I've heard of duramix, and I understand it is very similar to the stuff I posted in the previous post, but I've never used either one personally.

Yeah, unpainted would be much easier and $220 is a good deal. I'll be cutting up the front bumper too so I'll make good use of the entire bumper.
