Default No anti-roll bar?!

So my GF's `93 Legacy L AWD 5 speed NA wagon has a lot of body roll to it, especially in the rear in. I replaced the original factory shocks and struts (the car has 182k miles on it) and this helped a lot but it still has a lot of roll.

So I looked under the car yesterday and to my surprise there is NO anti-roll bar in the rear end! The front has one. I thought all Subaru Legacys had anti-roll bars on them? Am I wrong?

lol, one of my friends got an old impreza L that didn't have one either!

First thing he did was put in an anti roll/sway bar. I don't know why subaru didn't put those bars on some of the older and cheaper models, to save money?! who knows... But you can put one on there. You'll probably have to drill out the mounting points, and get all the parts you need from any 90-94 legacy, (endlinks, bushings, the bar itself, hardware, mounting pieces...)
because MOST of them actually have an anti roll bar lol.

I can't imagine how much body roll you have without one! Just upgrading mine made such a difference, this should be a mandatory mod for you!

Definitely needs an anti-roll bar.

I just don't understand how it is that I've read literature everywhere that says front and rear anti-roll bars were standard equipment yet somehow this car doesn't have said 'standard' equipment.

Wikipedia strikes again. Carsdirect.com had it right. I'd like to note though that I've read it elsewhere that front and rears were standard. Rear anti-roll bar is NOT standard equipment on the 1st gen "L" models.

You don't need to drill any holes. All the mounting points have plastic covers over them.
