I've been having the same issue! Ripping through first and second, I then get the vibration, notchy feeling of the clutch. If I pump the clutch a few times, it goes away. My car has about 19k miles on it, stage2, so I'm afraid to bring it to the dealer because they will think I "abuse" the car, even though I've driven my past 2 wrx's into the 120k mile territory on the stock clutch!

So, bump, hopefully people have more insight to this problem.

No one has discovered the cause of this problem? I have no squeek but starting yesterday I had a vibration mid travel when pushing the clutch both in and out. '12 WRX with 1950 miles. Seemed to be decreased the next day. Pumping seems to help but I don't want this to continue!!!

Just a shot..but have you checked the spot welds that secure the pedal assembly to the firewall ?? These have been coming apart like crazy and this causes a nice squeaky popping noise .. Might help with one of ur squeaks

Just bought a 2011 wrx and have both issues as well. At 30k miles right now. The pedal vibrating is the one that worries me.

I just fixed a buddies 09 WRX, 3 spot welds broke on the bracket. He had just over 60k so warranty was out of the question. We drilled out the oem spot welds and put grade 8 bolts, washers and nuts on to fix it.

We found this out after removing the wiper cowl and having someone press on the clutch pedal. You could see the spot welds moving almost 1/4 inch.

Since I saw the thread just thought I would update, squealing noise went away about a year an a half ago, nothing since.

I haven't had this problem on my subie but I heard of this a few times already and it seems to me like previously stated above that it's the spot welds and they should be a cheap and easy fix

I had the firewall welds repaired under warranty, and had a new clutch installed the same time around 300 miles ago. Today I started feeling vibration in the clutch while getting off of the freeway....needless to say I am frustrated. Has anyone found out the cause of the vibrating clutch pedal? Is it serious? I will go take a drive on my lunch today to see if it has changed. Any info is appreciated.

Subscribed. I have a squeaky clutch but no noticeable vibrations. Yes, I would call my clutch pedal stiff. I read they changed that in 2011+.

Might make a call to the dealership and see if they can do some investigating. Last time I tried to make a warranty claim (battery died), they gave me a load of crap for my mods. (I have an extended warranty).

Squeaky-ness and stiffness (imo) have to do with the throw-out bearing. I went in due to squeaks and the head tech said it looked like there was very little lubricant on the bearing. Many people have mentioned this in this thread. Busted firewall welds also contribute

The clutch assembly seems to be finicky and I think it just doesn't allow for sloppy driving. I also experienced pedal vibrations after a hard pull... but I don't get it anymore. A couple people hinted that mistiming clutch release and throttle position can cause this vibration.

The easiest first step is to take it into the dealer if you have a constant issue like squeaking. For the vibration issue, I think its mostly in shifting technique. A lot of us new-gen wrx owners are first time wrx drivers so perhaps it takes time to get used to shifting properly. I honestly don't get any of the vibrations in the clutch pedal anymore.

I posted in this thread before and just came across it again so I'll post a follow-up.

I'm up to almost ~120k miles on my 08 WRX now.

I had the clutch "clicking" sound for the longest time when releasing the clutch pedal. I found it to be associated with the clutch linkage as stated above. It went away eventually. The odd time it came back, I found that kicking the clutch pedal laterally in the direction of the brake and gas pedal made the problem go away. Now that I see it could be popped welds, I'll look into fixing it myself.

I also had the vibrating clutch pedal problem intermittently but it hasn't happened in the last 6 months. When it did happen, I only felt it at the top 1 inch of travel.

My clutch has always been stiff unlike many of the newer subies I drove. I have not replaced any clutch-related components on the car (mostly because I went through the warranty period in under 2 years). I found it more annoying than anything and I'm glad the problem went away.

I am getting shaking in the clutch pedal but it seems to only happen when i'm going from a stop into first and even more so when i'm turning while engaging. Anybody else have a similar case? It just started happening a few days ago. It's been very and humid since then. I thought that might have something to do with it.

I get the shaking in the clutch under hard acceleration and also have to pump it a few times for it to go away. 22k miles on my '12 WRX going to the dealership today to see what the issue is.

I get the same thing on my 11. Only when I'm driving it hard. Like you said, pump the clutch a few times and it goes away. I'm at 32k miles. I figure it's just going to break someday lol. Let us know what the dealer says. I'm modified so I don't want them to say "its cause your modified" so that is why i haven't gone yet.

I'm at 60,xxx and the issue is gone, even though I had it before and it behaved as described by others. I hardly ever pull hard out of first, that could be part of it. My clutch fork was lubricated a while back. I time my shifts better, too. Can't say for sure what cured it, or if it's just an intermittent problem. I can say that people shouldn't be too worried about it. I'm not worried about it failing any time 'soon'.

So, since yesterday, I have an awful squeal from the clutch bearing.
But only when the pedal feels weird. It goes away as soon as the feeling in the pedal.
At least, it is now obvious that there is a problem with the TOB.

The dealer couldn't replicate it and said nothing seems to be wrong. I hope it breaks soon.

I would tell the dealer to let you drive it with them so they can see what's happening. They obviously aren't driving it hard enough to replicate the issue. All I have to do in mine is top out 1st, shift quick, then it's there right away!

Hey guys I've ownedy 2011 wrx for 2 months now and almost immediately had the vibration issues , along with the metal scrapin sound when clutch is engaged . The vibration happens immediately after a hard acceleration or driving agressively , after pumping the clutch a few times it will go away no clue why though.

Any solution to this ?
Also have the nasty metallic scraping sounds wil post video tomorrow allong with link on you tube .

Well, its been quite a while since I have had my last TOB replaced. I have just "gotten used to" the occasional rotational squeaks i get, although now they seem to have lessened.

On another note, i finally got to hear the lovely firewall squeak! I brought this up during my last oil change, and the service rep said he JUST got done with a full dash rip out and wield (along the whole top of the firewall) and charged the guy $950 bucks to do it.

I thought that was pretty absurd, but he said it was a 2nd owner with over 100k on the car already.

My car only has 42k on it, and so he said he would call SOA. Well, they got back to him and said they would cover the repair of my firewall. I dropped it off yesterday, so we'll see how it is when it comes back. I still thinks its bull**** that they can charge anyone for a wield break on the firewall due to an ever-more-resistant clutch pedal.

Also, why do our clutch pedals get stiffer and stiffer over time? I don't get that.

My 2013 has been doing this, I checked my clutch fluid and there is black gunk in the reseviour. It happens to me on cold start as well. I started her up today put the clutch in was really gritty put it into reveres still bad, but then I put it into first its gone.

When I have time I will probably bring it in to a dealer.

Default Any answers?

Please help! Has anyone figured this issue out yet? I just had the ECM reprogrammed at the dealership because of a recalland the vibrations just started. I have a '12 WRX, owned it for three weeks and vibrations started today upon a hard pull. I have bumper to bumper warranty but want to know if there is a definitive answer to this before I go in to the dealership, please help!
