Just replaced this filter on my Suby Baja last night. Hoy, what a chore!!! I really had to fight with that darn thing. It has 155,000 miles on it, and like some others there wasn't even a filter in there!! So i vacuumed out some leaves and pine needles, ha ha.
Thanks to this thread for the motivation!

Why is everyone buying from ebay? Why not just get a home air filter from walmart for 10 bucks, cut it up and make about 8 filters. That's $1.25 per filter , use the money you saved and pick up some smellys for it also

Take off the glovebox and see if you have a rectangle slot behind it.

Just stick your hand in or use a flashlight to see if there is a filter or not.

In my 2006 sentra when I did the filter I got some leaves and a decaying small bird or mouse out of the filter, really don't ask.

i think it was only an accessory option for 02-04 then in 05 it came factory installed. so anyone with an 04 and older probably does not have one.

Just changed mine again (first change was last Spring) and the amount of pollen and bees I found on this one was amazing. I just order two more from the eBay seller so in the mean time I'll be rocking the slightly dirty one.

I replaced the filter on an '02 with 93k I just bought. Filter looked original. Very clogged, black, and loaded with tree parts and dead insects. Even found a peach pit that somehow made it into the vents.

Bought a 3M Filtrete furnace filter at Walmart and cut a piece the same width as the OEM filter. The pleats are spaced farther apart on the 3M filter, so I left it about 1.5x longer than necessary and pinched each pleat slightly to bunch them tighter.

I cut a few strips of dryer sheet and nestled them between a few of the pleats on the top side, so they aren't drawn into the blower. Air flow and smell is much improved.

I just replaced mine today, picked it up for $11 at O'Reilly auto parts. I bought the car with 77K and it has 81K on it now so I doubt it's ever been done.

Get them changed out frequently. I changed my first one at 120k. That caused premature wear and finally failed around 218k. Went to junkyard and purchased used one for $100. Now at 225k and ready to change filter again!

I'm assuming you are confused and talking about your intake filter. And even then, $100 for a used one at a junk yard?
