it's not too wide or short. it will fit fine on an 8 inch wheel. i ran 255/35/18s on the rear of my Corolla for a while on 18.8 wheels. i ran 255/50/16s on my V6 Mustang for the longest time and never had an issue with a 16x7.5 wheel and I was doing hardcore mountain driving.

just because the tire fits on the wheel doesn't mean its a good fit.....

just because a tire isn't stretched across a wheel doesn't mean a well fitting tire size is wrong.

Re read my comment. It goes both ways.

255 on an 8" wheel will start to feel sloppy and "floaty". It will definitely feel like **** on an even smaller wheel.

Default 2011 WRX Sedan

Hi, noob here. Couldn't find my exact situation within the thread, so here goes:
2011 WRX Sedan
I want to upgrade to:
18"X8.5 Rota Grid
Offset -44mm
Hub bore 73mm
Tire 245/40/R18
Stock suspension (for now at least)

Would I have to modify fenders for this? If not, and I decide to go lower in the future- how much lower can I afford to go, before rolling/pulling fenders?

Thanks in advance!

You'll be good. You shouldn't need any fender mods regardless of how low you go.

You might need to roll the rears flat depending in ride height but other than that - it should fit easy .

And most 255/35R18 are approved for 8.5-10" wide wheels.

8" does well with 225 or 235 in most cases for passenger cars.

Factory camber spec is not usually the best for aggressive driving unless you can Scandinavian flick everything...

No spacers. Roll, maybe slight pull in the rear depending in camber/ride height.

235/40R18, 225/40R18 is OK too... NOT 215/40R18.

Ok im pretty positive this setup will work but looking for a little feedback and suggestioning...and yes I have done research.

My Car:
2006 WRX Wagon - Bone Stock.

Looking to do a 17" rim with 225/45R17 tires. Thinking of the Dunlop Derrza Sports, what you guys think?

As for the rims:
1. XXR 522 (17x8 +48mm offset)
2. Motegi MR 118 (17x8 +45mm offset)

Silver car looking to do flat black rims.
Which rim would you choose and do you think that size and offset will work?
Also what abotu that tire size...could I go bigger without rubbing and rolling, or should I not bother going bigger?
Lmk your thoughts, Thanks!

You will need to roll the rear fenders. You may still have contact with the rear bumper shell and mounting tab, you may need to "adjust" it slightly.

Recommend you use 235/40R17 and not 225/45R17.

I have searched and searched for this.

XXR 521 18x10 +25 on 245/40/18 on a 2011 Subaru STi with BC racing coilovers.

Is this going to be way too aggressive. I have hear I would have to run 15mm spacers to clear the Brembos. Is that tru? I know I would definately have to roll the rear fenders

Any help would be great

Roll and then some.... Offset is too low to fit tires that wide within reason if you are new to this.
