What's The Difference Between Anti-Roll Bars, Sway Bars, Strut Tower Braces...???
Can someone describe the difference between these?
I always thought a roll-bar comes on convertible cars to prevent injury during a roll-over event. Some are nasty looking (Audi TT convertible) and some are sleek (360). But what's an "anti" roll-bar. Furthermore, what's the difference between a sway bar and a strut tower brace. The reason I ask is because after purchasing the TXS TMIC, I heard you cannot install a strut tower brace. Which one is more important out of the two (strut tower v. sway bar). Plus, what's the differences!!?!?!? Thanks guys.

I believe anti-roll bar and sway bar are different terms for the same thing. To reduce sway or body roll by minimizing the suspension compression/extension on opposite sides (i.e. body roll is felt when one side compresses and the other side extends)
(the roll bar on a convertible is a "safety feature" to protect the occupants of the car) The strut tower brace is a "bar" that connects the top of the strut towers. It would go across (on top) of the intercooler. The TXS TMIC is bigger and thus most available braces are not made to have the proper clearance for it. Most people would agree that the strut tower brace does not do much to improve handling. |

Especially for a WRX because the first ring of the cars body starts right behind the strut top... As for an answer to your question STI RDY is correct! |

The frame of the wrx cabin has three rings.. they are protective rings.. sort of like a built in roll cage. look at each pillar of the car and connect it with the passenger side a pillar... there is one around the windshield area... one between the two sets of doors and one that goes around the back window...
These rings are why it is difficult to have a sunroof in a WRX Go to an auto show and the subaru area has a full frame of a WRX showing you the rings... hope that helps |

Yep, roll bar, anti-roll bar, stabilizer bar, sway bar, & anti-sway bar are all the same part. It is basically a spring that resists independant suspension movement which leads to reduced body lean when cornering.
