04 STI Harness - 02 WRX Cluster Does anything need to be switched?
Hey... I'm almost done with my swap, except the a$$holes who sent me the motor, harness, and ECU forgot to send the -Instrument Cluster Wiring Harness-. Sooo... while I'm waiting for that I have ended up...
...reading almost every Schematic and Wiring diagram out there. However, I was still wondering if there is going to be a problem between the Speedometer, and the Tachometer-since the WRX and the STI Clusters have the gauges in opposite position? I figure the ABS light might come on, but besides that its not gonna have a problem with stuff that it isn't even programed for... Like the DCCD.

The speedo and tach will work fine. They are wired internally different inside the cluster.. I popped a 04 sti cluster in my 02 just for laughs, and it worked fine.

NitroTrike is correct about the 04 Sti Gauge Cluster. It's on the 05+ STi gauge clusters that won't work without a wiring change.

AHH PEOPLE... LISTEN TO WHAT I'M SAYING!!!!
... I DON'T HAVE an STI gauge cluster! '04 STI (EJ257) Motor, '04 STI Wiring, and '04 STI ECU, '04 STI Pedals, '04 STI Fuel System, and '04 STI Steering column/Key[Lock] I am intending on using (like the title of this thread says...) my ORIGINAL ('02 WRX) Gauge cluster. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- -For those who are still (for some reason) confused- Pretend I have an '04 STI... ...Will there be a problem if I put an '02 WRX gauge cluster in my car?? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Please don't reply with anything about putting an STI Cluster into a WRX ... we are supposed to be talking about putting a WRX Cluster into an STI! its an odd request but a valid one
you may have to be the pioneer here that said if a=b then b should = a or if 04 works in 02 then an 02 should would in an 04 or it might catch on fire and burn the car to the ground ... but that is highly unlikely |

The plugs are opposite! They will work though.
Remember the transitive property! A = B B = C A = C |

Well I haven't checked this post in a while... It seems to work fine except for the backlighting wouldn't come on.
A=B but who is to say that B will be back compatible with A... when we're talking about computers/Software it is completley different. Meaning: the WRX may be able to use STI programed Items, but who is to say that the STI can use a less advanced WRX cluster... PLEASE only answer if you KNOW... I apprecieate that you told me your answers were assumptions... but I jsut wish somone would know... Like the one guy said "I might be a Pioneer" ... Although I don't know why? There are plenty of swaps-There has to be somone out there with an 02 WRX that put An 04 STI Motor/Harness/ECU into the 02. I don't even see why you guys think that would be wierd... If i ordered the stuff I NEEDED then the cluster wouldn't be included... |
