Well, it has happened to another person. Another ******* traded in his busted sti and some unsuspecting person bought it. That person is me. I bought an 07 sti this past weekend and just took it to Dave and the guys over at PIA. They very regretfully informed me that I was in a very bad situation. They tore parts off to find that what I had hoped was a minor oil leak that it was the crank seal. No big deal you say? But they found that the crank had been moving back in forth inside the block. Now I'm stuck with this beautiful car, that needs a motor. Any advice that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

The dealership wouldn't allow anyone to drive it before they signed final paperwork. I should have walked away at that point, but I stayed against my better judgement. Now I'm stuck pouring money into it

Call the finance office and tell them about it there is a thing called lemon laws and they will take it up with the dealership where you got it from

Well, unfortunately the lemon law only applies to new cars. It is being towed from PIA to the dealership so they can look at it, because the word of one of the best subie shops in the state isn't good enough. I spoke with the owner of the dealership and he said once they figure out what's going on with it they will call me to see what we can do

Def feel bad for you bro. Sounds like you really got screwed. Well unfortunately it's gonna cost some money and it sounds like that may be an issue. Best thing either get a brand new block from Subaru, a complete gasket kit, a new oil cooler since you won't want to reuse something that had worn bearing flowing through there. While the heads are off have them checked for damage and have them re-decked so you can be sure they are flat. Prob some other things I can't think of right now........oooooor get a used block from a salvage yard or ebay and save money but always knowing that its used and thinking will this blow up on me in a few years or will it last a good lifetime.

If you were planning to do a motor build in the future then now would probably be the best time to do it. There are a few options just depends on how much work you can do yourself that will really decide what the overall cost will come out to. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined and you know someone with Subaru motor knowledge you can save a butt load of money on labor costs. I was able to do this with the help of research on here and having a friend who is a mechanic and happened to work on a few motors including his own build and I put hat I would have spent on labor into better parts and built my own and first time motor build ever.

Thats my take on it. Sorry if I rambled...partying and playing Black Ops 2 lol

Thanks cuztoimportz, I actually have a good friend of mine that is helping me through all of this. I am going to have the shop do the install so I know that it is put together right. So far, by my tally I am looking at around 3600 in parts.. But that is setup to where if I wanna crank the power up my whole bottom end will hold it.

I feel for ya bro I basically did the same thing bought my LGT with a burnt up clutch and a turbo with a cracked turbo shaft which later completely detonated luckily I didn't do any major damage to the engine... But yeah look in to the lemon law, a bit more there are certain guide lines that apply to used cars too...

I work for a dealership, there isn't a lemon law for used.... but depending on the dealership, there rating they will take care of you as a customer they want repeat business. As far as our company we had this happen as well. Used cars are hard some times. Even after inspection on New/Used something can go wrong. If you go in and aren't rude, just discuss it with them you should be fine. As far as the driving it before buying it, that is a little odd. Did they drive it? Sometimes with STI's or high end sports cars lots of dealerships want to make sure it doesn't get broken by a test drive but it should of at minimum been taken for a drive whether or not you or they did drive. But what should happen upon them doing there own inspection.. Especially if its a Subaru exclusive dealer not just a used lot. They will want to keep there reputation of the Subaru brand. They won't refund, they don't on New either. But they will most likely give you same value that you financed or bought towards another one on lot. Hope this helps.

Worked out the math tonight for the first time in a long time and found.

199.2miles/10.661gallons= 18.6849264miles per gallon

Best miles I've seen in a long time. Woot woot for a full tank used with zero boost.
