Same with riding a motorcycle, have all skill, just takes that one knucklehead to make the wrong move and your done. Period. You gotta be careful while doing stuff like that. It seems like I'm arguing against myself but everyone has done it. You have to know when and where it is/is not play time. Glad I'm learning as I'm maturing

Roll down your window and give them a thumbs up. They will then proceed to speed off to show you how cool they are.

I have only been challenged once and it was by some jocks in a brand new 5.0 mustang. My wife drives my car for one day and swears everyone was trying to race her. It never happens to me though.

I'd say not driving like an ******* and not egging people on is the best way to avoid it.

I agree the way to not "race" is to slow down, not speed off into the sunset. :P Besides it's a lot easier for people to not f$%^ with you if they are ahead of you, not the other way around. I just tuck in behind a big semi or some grandma in the slow lane and let him get impatient.

I also like the thumbs up thing. I've done that as well said hey nice car or thumbs up so they feel good about themselves.

I'm NA so no one ever tries to race me (no ricer flybys etc) and nor do I try to race people. One time though I was on my way home from a lady friend's house at about 11:00 PM on a deserted highway. Some guy in an Audi A4 gets next to me and looks like he wants to play.

He downshifts and I downshift, we both take off and I'm destroyed. At this point he probably looked back and saw no hood scoop and knows I'm not a WRX.

I guess my Perrin Performance license plate frame didn't get me any more horsepowers...
