Fog light condensation
Let me start by saying that I drive my car through the car wash A LOT (approximately 3x/week), so I'm sure this is the primary moisture source.
Anyway, I usually have condensation inside my driver's side fog light. Passenger's side is always clear. Both sides function fine, but I can usually see moisture inside the driver's side light. Has anyone else experienced this? Any simple solutions? I'm sure I could take it to the dealer for a warranty repair, but if it's easy for me to fix, I'd just handle it myself.

my OEM fogs didn't fog up (lol), but the OEM outback fogs I put in place do, at least when I was using them, they don't fog up when not in use. I blame the heat vaporizing the moisture and then it collects

I had this problem too. I brought it to the dealer & they replaced it under warranty.

I have condensation in my passenger side headlight unit. Noticed it when washing the car, Lights work fine, but seems to be an issue, any others? Will eventually do what SG will do, just bring in it.

Update: I have an appointment for the evening of Tuesday 8/13 to get this taken care of. The dealership pre-ordered a replacement fog light, and will have it in stock when I arrive. They said they can't tell me if this will be a warranty repair until they see it for themselves, but I'm not expecting any issues as this dealership has an excellent reputation.
Since I have yellow Lamin-X film on my fog lights, I pre-ordered a new sheet of material so that I'll have that on hand for the replacement light. |

May sound dumb, but I'd remove the yellow film if possible so that there isnt any question of it at a dealer.

Meh. I don't see how they can blame the film for water in the fog light housing. Besides, the other fog light doesn't have water in it. If one can stay clear, then the other should be able to too.

I don't want to de-laminate the fog light that doesn't have a problem.
If my dealership was sketchy and dishonest, I'd be more likely to take this kind of advice. But my dealership is known to have very high customer satisfaction, so I'm not worried about it. They wouldn't have earned this reputation by pulling stunts like telling a customer that his fog light has moisture on the inside because the lens has a laminate on the outside. |

I have two Subaru dealerships to choose from. One is less than 10 minutes from my house, and the other is 35 minutes from my house. I chose the further dealership because of their outstanding reputation. The closer dealership has a somewhat sketchy reputation, so I only use them for parts.

The dealership found that the fog light housing was cracked toward the rear of the housing. Since the crack wasn't in the lens, they agreed that it wasn't impact damage and therefore must have been the result of a manufacturing defect. Covered under warranty with no hassles.
When I got home, I applied my yellow Lamin-X to the new light. Good as new. I love my dealership. |
