problem with factory alarm/security system 02 impreza
well, while driving the car the security light in dash came on(it flickers to, its not steadily on), and stays on with the car off
puting it in valet mode or turning the alarm on/off doesnt do anything but lock/unlock doors with either the remote transmiter or the ignition method the alarm sounds off randomly while driving or parking with the car off, right now the battery is disconnected to stop it any one have any experience with this? ive never heard of it and don't know where to begin if someone has alarm wiring diagram i'll start checking wireing i need help bah if i cant fix the thing i'll disconnect the horns

the module is under the center trim right in front of the armrest/pocket... it's directly to the left of the ebrake handle. you'll have to take up the trim by opening the center console storage lid and prying up on the plastic peice that covers the ebrake. you should then see a black box with a 'security unit' or something sticker on it.
i'd actually suggest going into a subaru dealership if unplugging, replugging doesn't work. sounds like the module might be bad, normally a key in the ignition will prevent the alarm from being activated. that, or you can just leave that security unit unplugged and go without the factory alarm. the keyless entry should work without the black security module connected. |
