Default 17x9 or 18x9 rim source?

Does anyone out there know of a good source for 9 inch rim widths (either 17 or 18) that will fit appropriately? I am guessing that for tire to coilover clearance in the rear would require an offset of around 45 (which is not ideal, but still close to parameters). I am not terribly concerned about fender clearance, as I can roll them, or even add an additional flare if necessary.

Try posting in or searching the tire and wheel forum.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a 17x9 in a Subaru fitment. Might have to go CCW, Kodiak, Fikse, Kinesis for that...

I have the 8.5" +45 Advan and with enough camber as you'd want in front going any wider than that is seriously pushing it. +42 might work better.

Currently running two sets of rims on the RS. A set of Borbet Type T's in a 17x9" +35 flavor and a set of Enkei RPF-1's in a 17x8 +35mm.

Fenders have been massaged to fit the wider rims.

Doing a search won't yield much in the RS department, and even less in the WRX department. There aren't too many manufacturers that make a 17x9" rim in a 5x100 bolt pattern. I've done some research about converting over to a 5x114.3 bolt pattern (SVX) but haven't had time to fully pursue it. Plenty of options in a 5x114.3 (BMW, etc..).

As pointed out above, Fikse, HRE, and a few others will make you anything you want. Bank on ~$1k per corner depending on who you go with.

Best of luck with your project.

Enkei Japan makes some nice wheels calls the Tarmac-ESs that they don't sell in the US. They make 17x9 ET50 wheels in 5x100. Red Rocket (recently banned) was running 17x9s in the front and 17x8.5 in the rear with 255 tires. They are very lightweight, even in 17x9 they are like 17 lbs. You can order tham from here:

http://www.irs.co.jp. With air freight they come out to be about $350/wheel.

They make 17x9.5 +35 for the EVO in 5x114.3, I could see that being an option on an 05 STI.

Cobb used 18x10 Kodiak wheels on the conebasher car. Not cheap.

Hey, thanks for the good responses, and even the one sa. LOL

That is pretty much what I was figuring. I had seen the Enkei wheels, and even approached IRS with the offer of doing a group buy, but It would be a better option if the dollar were a little stronger against the yen right now.

Fitz,

That car is a work of art.

Delivery is slow, but the price & weight are right.

looking at the quotes CCW is giving on their forum... looks like CCW race wheel would be cheaper than Kodiak. They said they couldn't make a 9" wheel for an S2000 though so you might have to go with like a 17x9.5 or 10.

I was looking at this place at making some 16x10 wheels.

http://www.rsracing.com/rscatalog/as...rrw-pro616.asp

According to most offset charts I've seen the closest backspacing that would work for a Subaru is 7" which is the largest they offer. Their wheels are mainly made for cars with negative wheel offsets. 7" would give the wheel a +37mm offset, according to their charts. That should work but it may require some spacers and the that's definitely going to stick way outside the fenders in the rear. The wheels are cheap, like $260/ea and only weigh 14.9 lbs in 16x10. I would not recommend using them on the street however, they would likely not last very long, but a lot of guys seem to use them for road racing.
