Default LED License Bulbs

i attempted to change my lights a while back, and it was kind of weird.. the LED lights shine this way \ \ on my license plate...
Is this an error when subaru put the car together? using the stock lights, it looks fine, but once I put the LED on, it seems like the lights are in that configuration..

Should the lights be like that or should they shine \ / or should it b / \
I think there was a thread that talked about this, but I don't recall where it is now.

Pictures? Most likely it's just a result of the kind of light LED puts out vs incandescent. LED is much more directional, while your old filament bulbs radiate light in all directions.

If it's a single LED type of bulb, it will emit light directly out from that single LED, so any angle in the bulb holder will result in the light output pattern directly following that angle. As others have mentioned, consider getting LED bulbs that have multiple LEDs so that the light output is broader.

I've got ones that go around the bulb and it looks/works great. Consider getting the ones with bulbs all around.

I got mine from fastwrx

Op you should specifically mention the configuration of these LED bulbs. LED's are directional and do not necessarily flood light outward like a normal bulb. This is likely, like others have said, where the problem lies.
