turboxs knock light? anyone runnin it?
i was just lookin on jsc speeds site and came across this and thought it was a pretty cool part, and cause i love anything that helps me monitor whats goin on w/ the engine, and as a added bonus you can calibrate it to use it as a shift light so, my question is, is anyone running this unit wired to the factory knock sensor? hows it work? and all the other details
thanks in advance heres the link http://www.jscspeed.com/wrx/wrx_base.html

I've been thinking about getting one as well. I was going to get a KnockLink but this seems like a cheaper easy to get option.
Anyone have experience with both? Knocklink and the TurboXS knock light? -Tim |

I got one from my wife for christmas and it's been awesome. I have a utec but because of the sensitivity settings I was never completely comfortable with it reading knock so I've always had them super sensitive. The knock light has given me the ability to fine tune the utec knock sensitivities as well as giving me some added confidence that I am going to see the light flash as it's a hell of a lot brighter and distracting than the cel. I have it wired to the stock knock sensor and it's been working great. The fact it tells you the degree of knock light to harsh is also helpful.. at least that way you know that if you got 3 count but it was light, it's not quite as bad as 1 count that was hard. Definately extra comfort. So my opinion is great tool, good price, looks good!!!!

I have it as well and love it. Keep in mind it’s completely independent from your EM so it can be used on a variety of setups. The noise sensitivity settings are nice as it allows you to specify the level at which it operates. For example I have mine set a hair sensitive so the light will flash mild knock (yellow) and heavy knock (red) just before my EM picks it up; kind of a safeguard. It also doubles as a shift light which is sweet. I mounted mine inside my front-center hvac vents (drivers side one), stealthy and you don’t even know it’s there until the monster LED’s flash |

Put one in last week, it's very bright, I put it on top of the steering column and it's bright enough to be distracting. The shift feature is nice too.

I'm installing mine this weekend. Good to hear that you guys have had positive experiences with it. Seems like a very handy tool, especially for the price.

I have been contemplating it w/ the Dtec BC.
Are the shift points adjustable on the knocklite? Is the shift light color different than the knock color? |

Easy to install, but it does have about 40 feet of wiring on it. |

Are any of you running this with only stock setups ? Is it hard to wire into the stock sensor ? I use the AP and would like to use this also .

yes, will someone please post how they installed it step by step? Pics are always a plus but just where to wire will help. I dont want to touch the ecu, so where do u hook up the RPM signal wire too and where is the knock sensor located?

I read that if you tap into the stock knock sensor, you might be changing the resistance of the sensor and therefore affecting the signal that it puts out.
