Default Range Day?

So I've been thinking. I know a couple of people in the community have some pretty schweet firearms. I turned 21 last September and I'm looking to start on the pistol-shotgun-rifle trifecta. Problem is, I don't know anyone immediately who has any of the guns I'm interested in purchasing.

I'd really like to try out a bunch of different guns to get a better sense of variety (I've only fired a few revolvers, a couple glocks, a mossy, garand, and M14). You know, try before you buy.

I figure if we get enough people interested, we could turn this into some sort of mini-meet. Indoor or outdoor range, whatever works for people. I don't have guns I could drag along (unless my dad finally let's me put some rounds through the Enfield...), but I'd be more than happy to buy (cheap ) lunch for anyone who'd let me put some rounds through their stuff.

(Please do not talk about the sale or trade of firearms and/or ammo in this thread please, I don't want it locked because we break the forum rules. )

Edit:
Ok, it looks like there is a good amount of interest in a range day. If those of you who are interested could PM me the following info:

Name:
Phone #:
E-Mail:
Location:
What days work for you:
Range suggestions:
Guns you will bring:
Ammo calibers for said guns:

If you do not feel like disclosing your list of firearms, please at least disclose the caliber. That way for those of us who don't have guns, or want to shoot other guns, can know what ammo to buy ahead of time.

For range suggestions, if you could link a website for them, it would be much appreciated. We will probably have a decently large group, and I'd like to let them know ahead of time.

This sounds like it could be fun.

Where do you propose we meet?
What day do you want to do it?
Would you prefer indoor or outdoor? Outdoor obviously allows more weapon options.
I'm sure if you list the weapons you're thinking about purchasing, someone will be able to bring one.

Ok. I don't have any personal experience with these guns, but I've been chatting with several guys for many years, and these seem to be their firearms of choice.

For a handgun, I'd be looking for a carry weapon. This is the category where I think I'm going to have to be doing the most shopping. I'm drooling over a Kimber carry 1911 right now, but come on, who doesn't.

For a shotgun, I'm looking at a Remington 870 and using this kit on it.

For a rifle I'm thinking either a 16" or 20" Cav-15. I'm pretty good internet buddies with two guys who work there, and I know they'd cut me a break on cost, and the general opinion is they make some damn nice rifles. http://www.cavalryarms.com/rifles2.html

This all, of course, could be up for change depending on getting more experience on more guns.

I might be up for this.
I have a Sig 229 40cal.
SA XD45.
Browning Hi-Power 9mm.
All my long guns are hunting rifles, but I do have a Rem 870 12ga.
I dont know of any outdoor ranges up north, but theres one close to Maple Valley/Renton. I usually prefer a more relaxed setting, like the Evans Creek area.

The Black Diamond Gun Club has a public shoot on Wednesdays I believe. Someone would have to look into it for a range day but that's an option. It's an outdoor 100yd (I believe) range. Believe there's indoor there too.

The gravel pit (probably similar to Evans Creek) option is more relaxed and fun if everyone can hold a proper firing line.

I just recently got interested in a .45. I'm still not sure about it as a carry weapon. I know lots of people do it. Even though I practice quite a bit, I'm still not comfortable with the idea of cocked and locked. It may sound like Blasphemy, but if you like the .45 round, you would be better off with a glock in .45.

The best gun is the one that you carry. I tend to find that early on I carred large, and eventually didn't like it.

For jogging, I like the Smith Airweight series. I have a 642. My P228 just flopped around all over the place. The negative is the Airweights are hard to shoot, and even with the lightest rounds they have sharp recoil. It is definately not a fun gun to shoot. Because it is so light and small though, you can just throw it in a pocket.

The Remington 870's are nice. I used to have an 870 Express Super Mag; cheap, reliable and shoot straight.

I've got a single pump pellet pistol you can shot.

Most ranges won't let me shoot there, most of my round are FMJ, and have pretty good loads behind them. And if I accidently fire one of my AP rounds, it would go through the back stop and the wall behind it. This is one of the reasons for my property in central Oregan, way out in the middle of no way, plenty of room to crank off rounds at any distance.

Also, i might be able to arrange a little get together on a piece of private property. Friend of the family has a private place to go shooting outdoors, marked off for 100 yards, with a bench for sighting...

That'd be nice. I'm tired of range masters bitching at me. (Or having some jackass 10 booths down having his CETME launch brass at my face at 75mph.)

Hmmm. That doesn't induce comfort when going shooting with you.

Hey, I don't know why the last two were bitching at me. I didn't do anything wrong. They just started yelling at me unintelligibly. At least, that's what I understood, with plugs, muffs, and my ears still ringing from hotloaded 7.62.

Don't worry, I'm not the guy shooting at the swept up brass on the floor at Wade's.

Heh, no worries. Just not enough explanation to be taken lightly.

I'm sure we can go out there... just not sure how MANY of us could go at once. Also, it is in the Shelton area, so it would be quite the drive for you...

Did somebody say rangemasters yelling at people?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXRCqbdiLlo

I overheard someone at the gas station say a Canadian went to that range and rented a gun, then plinked himself right in the head.

Ah, yup. Here's the link.

http://www.bellinghamherald.com/102/story/759890.html

I've been up to the gravel pit a couple of times this month out off Mosquito lake road. If you want to shoot at a Neon, come on up.

The Tacoma sportsmans club would be a good option. They have a shotgun, pistol, and rifle range. All for only 10 bucks. Lot's of shooting positions and the rifle range is 200yd. I would be willing to get in on this.

I have

.38 special revolver
9mm smith and wesson M&P subcompact
Rock River LAR-8. It's a .308 assault rifle. (My favorite toy)

I love it, but ammo isn't exactly cheap for it these days. 7.62x51
