NICE!!! how are you dealing with the power steering issue? I had a chance to get a twin turbo manifold at one point and passed it up

RHD JDM y0! It's taken a backseat because I've decided to get married first. Still working out electrical stuff on paper though.

Question should I use the Ej22 injectors or EJ25? I think the EJ22's flow slightly less, but I ask because I want to send out the injectors to be cleaned and flow tested.. my EJ25 injectors have 256K on them.

Neither! It boils down to what you're using as an ECU. Match them to the ECU.

Finished up my turbo a few weeks ago. It was a long time coming, I spent over a year and a half being disappointed by a lack of progress and incorrect parts until one day I stumbled on a local craigslist ad where some one was selling their entire legacy-> to turbo set up for $400!
So everything bolted up and I have lots of spare parts from when I was piecing everything together myself.

Specs:
stock ej22e with 260k miles I just put in after hydro-locking my original.
Blox racing 6:1 rrfpr
walbro 255
subachad uppipe and downpipe to replace the custom uppipe built to the wrong spec
2006 wrx Td04 w/ 3psi wastegate
jdm slanty intercooler
bosch recirc valve, hopefully replace it with something not plastic
full 3inch stainless exhaust after the downpipe with highflow cat
Custom intake pieced together from siliconeintakes.com

few things I want to add soon:
diy parallel fuel lines
some sort of fuel management. greddy ultimate or make my ms2 into a piggyback
bigger injectors
msd coilpack

Also want to get it on the dyno soon. I'm still running 3 psi but I want to jump it up to 5 soon and get those dyno numbers.

What kind of air/fuel ratio with stock ej22e injectors @ 3psi? I know of someone running a td04 with stock ej22e @ 5psi hitting 10.5ish.

Goodbluck with that. You're better off doing a complete wrx or sti swap. Know of someone that built his ej22e to support a 20g and had issues here and there stalling at a complete stop.

BS.
That someone had a leak in the intake piping. Only reason why it would stall out.

not true... you can have issues with lots of things. A common one i have seen is if you try to combine a lightweight pulley and a lightweight flywheel sometimes the deceleration of the engine is too quick for fueling to kick back on.

So you're saying that everybody who turbocharges their ej22e will have this exact same problem? As if there isn't some cause for the problem that can be fixed.

Mine are kind of lean.. I don't really have management other then the rrfpr which I think I should change the plate in. I think it is the 6:1 so the 8:1 would probably be a better bet or even the 10:1. I think over that you might go too rich which will hurt power.
here is the graph with the AFR at the bottom

Good luck with that. Stock heads are too restrictive and a vf39 threshold is a good bit below 350.

To be honest I think had I stopped at 350WHP and not pushed my Airfuels as lean as i did It would have lasted longer, BUT I'm damn hard on my car. I did this as a cheap way to get my car running. It just so happened to hold up to boost well.

Your biggest issue imho is tuning , My advantage was being a 20/22 I had 03 ecu

You had an early 22e? The rods wouldn't have given you too much more as it is.

I must respectfully disagree. We rebuilt the engine with a factory style rebuild kit. During that time we had the EJ205 rod and a ej22e rod by each other and you would be surprised how similar they were in design.

I bet a EJ22e + Pistons could hold 400ish with proper tune and e85.

Okay first, I misread and thought he would be running ej22 heads. And second, yes you will never see 350 whp on a measly vf39 without e85 or race gas and I'm really just throwing that out there.

I wasn't picking at you. I figured you misread it.

I shared the link to give the other poster some ideas of what a semi-similar build could do. That's all.

Btw-like what you've done with your wagon and thanks for you pics on Suziemk's thread.

I'm planning on taking that info and doing the same as you and he did to my 99 Wagon. (MAP EJ222)

No problem. His build is sick though. And thanks, I love a boosted 2.2

Nice numbers for such low boost running lean, You need a 8:1 fmu to run safely on a maf car.

Some folks say no fmu is required on maf cars but as you can see even 6:1 is a bit too lean for a reliable long lasting engine.

Check out my parts list on rs25 where I outline turbo kits for map EJ222s based on my own OBS wagon which has been boosted since 2004 & is still running strong with a best 1/4 mile time of 12.8Xs - stock longblock, no e/m, single port!

Afrs of mid 13's are ok n/a But a cracked piston or blown hg is possible with some boost.
